That's exactly it! It's your instinct to adjust for the different distances and you don't even realize you are doing it. Read this carefully. THERE IS NOT A BOW OUT THERE THAT WILL SHOOT PERFECTLY FLAT FROM 0 TO 30 OR 40 YDS! They all start dropping the instant they come off the rest. Just like a bullet fired from a gun. It's starts dropping the moment it exits the barrel. Now elevation differences can make a big difference. Say you shoot a 20 yd pin at a target while standing on the ground, Then get 15 ft up a tree that same pin may work out close to 40 but only because of the angle of trajectory has changed.

10" inches between 20 and 30 sounds like a lot.. I have pins set at 15 and 30 and I can barely keep them from touching each other they are so close. And I shoot a lowly PSE Nova.

this was happening to a buddy of mine last wknd.

forgot what kind of bow it was, but it wasn't a mathews so i don't the problem is brand specific... he was dead on at 30 yards and hitting the ground below the target at 40 even using the lower pin....

something was wrong with the setup and he is getting it looked at.

I know that the arrow starts droping when it leaves the rest but his drop problem seem a bit extream.......mine is at most a 2 maybe 3 inch drop from 20 to 30.

Thanks for the reply's. Gordon, your pretty dead on, as that is what I figured also. Just couldn't believe it would truthfully be 10".

As far as different arrows, tried several different brands/lengths/ combo's. Same results.
Bowtech? yeah, good idea! Truthfully, if i had the money, I would buy one today/tomorrow. Just am out about 5 bones, and can't come up with it.

Oh yeah, the bow is actually 26" not 27"!! Woopaddee the FOOOKING DOO!! Called archery shop and it will be next week before I can get the right cam, there 2 hours away, so... I guess I don't need to deer hunt anyway, I mean really, sitting on the deer stand watching life, nature, and the like is way overrated! I guess I can't be mad at the archery shop, as I thought I would get what I paid for! It is a pretty bow though, as I strategically placed it so that every morning/afternoon I get to sit and stare at my purchase, b/c I can't shoot it! OK my rant is over, sorry, just not what I was expecting.

Yeah I know:
I should have bought the bow earlier
I should have paid more attention
I shoud, I should, I should, but I didn't.

Fook it, can't do nothing about it anyway.

Good Luck this weekend, and if ya'll do bust one, post some pics!! Again, thanks for the replies!
If I don't do it, I ain't gettin nun.......So i'm doing it

I am no expert but I thought that bullets actually went up when they came out of the barrel then started dropping. Why else can I shoot my gun dead on at 25 and it be high at 100 yards.

Because you are aiming it up there! Laws of physics and gravity tell you there is no way it could possibly rise after leaving the barrel. Look at any ballistic chart that give you 0 sight in trajectory listings. It's dropping from the moment it leaves the barrel. It does cross your line of sight however but that is because you are aiming it up there to reach back to zero at a further distance downrange!

br549 is right a bullet shot at a right angle to the earth will hit the ground at the same time one is dropped straight down from the end of the barrel if they are both released at the same time :D

When you are practicing with your bow, are you using field tips, fixed blade or mechanical braoadheads? If it shoots different with field tips than it does with broadheads of the same weight your bow is probably out of tune. Keep in mind that all bows IBO speed rating is caculated with a 30" draw lenght, 70# draw weight and 5 grains of arrow weight including the tip or broadhead per pound of draw weight. A 26" draw length will shoot somewhat slower than a 30" draw length and most folks don't shoot anywhere close to a 5 grain per pound arrow set up. Only way to tell for sure how your bow is shooting is to shoot it through a crono and paper tune it.

I realize it is an inch too short right now...but I missed the part where you can't hunt because of it.... Just get your pins set and get out there and shoot.... you're better off one inch too short instead of too long, but either way I would hunt with it until the new cam came in....

in my opinion, with archery more than anything, else you aren't just buying the bow you are buying the bow shop's service unless you can do the work yourself...buy from the best shop as close to home as possible even if it means paying a bit more, you'll probably save that much in gas/headaches....
