Lease Stolen!!!!!!!!!

Postby LODI QUACKER » Mon Oct 20, 2008 8:32 am

Just because its dead around here and this seems like it could be a pretty heated subject. Lets address the issue of The rising "cost" of our sport.

Who in the past has had there either reasonably priced or free (because of long time relationship), hunting spots jerked out from under them because of some slippery broker some high dollar doctor with more money than sense decided that they should be hunting "your" spot..

Hell, we might as well list names and te such.

Never had that happen but I get the felling you got an angry story to tell.

Had it happen when I was in school. My unlcle let me hunt his place and this guy wanted to lease it and it would be fine for me to hunt it...he said.

My uncle even let me sit in on there meetings so there was no misunderstandings....then this guy leases it to other people and I was no longer welcome. That is when the realization of this hunting deal hit me right in the head. :x

I understand folks getting bent out of shape on losing leases to those with more money (in MS it seems like physicians more than most), but don't hate a guy because he is successful. That is the same BS that Obama is about to win the election on.

I find it hypocritical that people get angry at doctors and such leasing and buying up hunting land. Guess what, if you had the money you would do it to, just like I would if I had the money. If I had the money, I would be a member of the biggest, nicest camp in the Delta, but I don't. However, I don't have distain for someone who can afford it. They are either smarter than me, have worked harder than me or have wealth through no fault of their own (born with it) or perhaps just caught a lucky break that we all hope to catch someday.

Obviously, if unethical behavior is involved in acquiring a lease, that is a different story. The moral of that story is to get everything in writing, that way it is defensible in court.

Buddy let me give you a little info, "If you cant afford the best places ,in the long run you will not be able to afford any places"
Thats is what we are talking about. Keep on popping off on your so called " not the best places". Somebody will hear about it, want it and they Will have it. I can assure you you will be very unhappy. Hell, just for the record the holes that we lost were FAR from the best, more like low to middlin on the scale, no blinds or pits just a freakin bean field- Well 10,000.00 later we dont hunt there anymore.

I have never been lucky enough to have a free hunting spot, I have always had to join a membership or lease. I can see where it would piss people off to have something free taken away but I ask did you do anything for the landowner to make it hard for him to lease it out instead of just letting you hunt it. I have had friends that have had free places to hunt but they took very good care of the landowner with small gifts here and there and it always works for them. So I guess that isn't really free but alot less than what my leases cost me. I think that the lease prices and someone with more money always lerks in our minds. I think that I make good money and pay fair prices for leases, but I know that there is always someone out there thats got more and willing to spend it. The last club I was in before I started leasing my own did something somewhat simular to what your talking about.

The leasee of the club for 20 years got outbid by a member of 1 year with the leasor. Then they told all of us that we could stay with open invitation as long as we paid the new dues. Went from $2500 to $5000 in 10 mintutes. It didn't hold that kind of duck possibilites. Had to go, still talk to the guys that stayed and I guess it worked out for them.

Lodi you are MOSTLY correct. IMO. It's not that fact that these doctors or rich folks are buying up the land. To me, it's the way they go about it that pis*es people off.

I have a friend who was in a group last year on the Cache River in AR. They all paid 500 bucks. Had 3 pits 1 blind and the backwater got out and they absolutely smoked 'em.

Well, some of the guys are docs and privately decided to offer the farmer quadruple the lease fee, which caused my retired buddy to pay 2000 instead of 500. Basically, they knew only their "Little group" could afford it. That's just as bad as screwing your buddy's girlfriend in my book. Just pitifull, selfish bastars.

That's just my example, of course, if I had the money, I would spend it on a great hole. But I wouldn't crawfish my duck buddies.

I hate it for you.

Maybe we should ask Obama to regulate duck lease prices in MS? You know lets stick it to the farmer and dictate to him what he can lease his land for. These regulations should ban doctors, lawyers and businessmen from leasing land for duck hunting purposes. Better yet, they should be banned from hunting and the government should take their guns also. In fact the government should just go ahead and tell them how much money they can make each year. We are onto something here. :P

OK , my turn to cry...had 2 holes and deer hunting for $3000..fair at the best---paid $1000--of the deer/duck hunting as we got to just hunt ducks...lost the lease last year to some local yahoos for $5000--thought we were going to get it back this year for $3000--i was going to pay more of the split -$1500 and the farmer $1500---then the land owner leased it out from under us for $8000(did included a little extra deer hunting...but not that good) CRAZY....and BTW when you guys say "DOCTORS" go ahead and say specialists or lawyers(trial lawyers) cause i can tell you this country DOC ain't got that kinda dough.

Nobody said anything about regulation. Hell boy, we lost our holes that was not this year, we just have to hunt public just like all the other po folk. Do you happen to know why the Federal Refuge system was started Click? It WAS a Goverment program. So your saying that Obama and Theodore Roosevelt are alike? Quite honestly you sound like one of the slimmy Brokers I mentioned. Like I said earlier bad for us good for the farmer.

But while your at it, yep, no Docs, laywers, "rich" businessmen and the like. Hell, they can buy there own property! Its the poor folk that lease.

By the way click which of the three above choices are you?
