In his Wednesday speech at MSU, Colin Powell mentioned global warming as one of the critical issues facing the nation and world.

So what? Who cares what Colin Powell thinks? He isnt a MSD regular, isnt from Mississippi, doesnt hunt in the Delta and will probably make some really big money through some carbon credit scam...Powell is probably best buddies will Al Gore and the rest of the communist conspiracy that is promoting GW in attempt to establish a New World Order....Never mind the melting polar ice caps and drowning polar bears, never mind the continuing disappearance of the Mississippi Flyway or the resurgence of the bubonic plague, malaria in New York City, never mind the 5000 climate scientists, the US's own National Academy of Science and NASA, it's all a big, old fashioned scam...

On the other hand, every bank in America is about to fail so the Fed and the Treasury better intervene really soon before another Great Depression starts. We wouldnt want the underlying home values to fall to prices that investors are willing to buy them, we wouldnt want to let the market work this out and let the greedy pigs that overate at the trough go broke will those of us with long term value orientation (like Warren Buffett) pick meat from their bones.

I, for one, blame the current economic crisis on global warming. :x

+1. I really don't see any other logical explanation for it.

Good Monday morning to all you MSDers...I agree- must be global warming that is behind the so-called financial crisis...No way making mortgage loans to 5MM home buyers that were inferior credit risks could be a factor....No way legislating the savings and loans out of existence in the late 70s/early 80s, then creating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to fill the mortgage loan void, then strong arming Fannie and Freddie to lower their credit requirements, then funding entities like the Mississippi Home Corporation to further subsidize poor folks buying houses could have anything to do with the so-called "crisis"...Not to mention bogus appraisals, finders fees and commissions paid to mortgage brokers, etc...

Incidentally, the biggest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie? Christopher Dodd, Democrat Senator from CT and chair of Senate Banking Committee. No 3 on the list of recipients? None other than Barrack Hussein O'bama. Oh yeah, Dodd also got a sweetheart mortgage loan deal on his personal home from who else? Countrywide Financial, one of the failed mortgage loan institutions....

The fox is guarding the hen house and we will soon be as hot as that half you know what fox in the proverbial hen house....We are getting reamed, steamed and dry cleaned and the price tag for the so-called "bailout" to solve the so-called "crisis" is high enough that it will severely limit the federal government's ability to deal with real problems- like GW....BTW, between supply side inflation from oil and the monetary inflation that will result from the "bailout", your money aint worth what you think it is worth. To so-called "save" Wall Street, the federal government is passing a silent tax (via inflation) that will take decades to overcome. And the kicker is that the underlying asset values of the houses the bad mortgages are against will drop anyway so the net result is a lot of inflation resulting from throwing good money after bad, not to mention that this is inherently unConstitutional, unAmerican and a major step toward European style socialism...

Okay, I am done, go back to sleep, go ahead and stick your head back in the sand.

NO DUH...Sucker of mud and other toxic chemical laced silt/loam/sand...Are you so stupid you cant detect my sarcasm and my using the posts to tell it the way it is about the so called "crisis" on Wall Street?

Incidentally, my Rebels might just have something for the virus, the purple and gold scourge known as LSU Nation when we invade Tiger Stadium in a few weeks. Houston Nutt has had your number and we played yall mighty close last year without a SEC caliber QB or SEC caliber Defensive backfield. We got both this year not to mention Jerrell Powe and a great coaching staff.

Yall are better but on any given Saturday in the SEC, anything can happen. Needless to say, I will heckle you to the end of the Earth if the REBS are able to pull off the upset and prevent your Bayou BenGALS from another NC. We had your arses in 2003 and you know it but the football gods did nto smile on us when Chris Collins stepped out of bounds and our all world kicker missed not 1 but 2 FGs. Mabye your luck is about to run out.

Well yeah, I've got an economics degree from Ole Miss, a MBA from Millsaps and I worked in the portfolio management department at DGNB for a few years before I got all of the money changer lifestyle I could stand, retired and moved to Colorado to begin my professional hunting career working as an elk and mule deer guide...

But you are wrong about me being a scientist...I am just a guy that gets to hunt 100+ days per year, every year, in the same places I have hunted for nearly 40 years and I know what I have seen and I know that when folks as smart and as diverse as John McCain, Al Gore, Arnold Swartzenager and Sir Richard Branson, agree on something, it is probably true...

And when the Kiwis and Brits and Afrikaneers that I ski with tell me that their glaciers are melting, I don't doubt them...

And when the same engineers I worked with on the Superconducting Super Collider in Mississippi project tell me that the Alyeska Pipeline is sinking because the permafrost is melting, I pay attention...

And when the guys I built power lines with in Florida and Louisiana and North Carolina and Arizona and New Mexico and Utah tell me that the power line they built near Talkeetna, Alaska is falling down because the permafrost isnt permanent, I pay even more attention...Really nothing more than common sense to look at pictures of the polar ice caps, see the degree they have melted in the last quarter of a century, look at the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere now versus 500,000 - 5 MM years ago and figure it out...

As for my hunting lease, I accepted two guys at $3k each to join me in a duck only club, meaning I am a full duck member and I retain deer hunting rights for myself, subject to morning hunting only, 3 days a week only, 1 guest per member per week only, etc.

Some folks like vanilla, others like chocolate and others like strawberry. Only a fool doesn't know this and only a bigger fool criticizes a man for liking one flavor more than another.

I noticed that you didnt bite on the Ole Miss smack. Probably a wise decision.

Quite a resume Hammer. Might i inquire as to what line of work one does to be able to afford european ski trips and 100 days of hunting? This financial crisis caused by that damn global warming might render my booty unemployed, so i was just curious 8)

I can pilot the hell out of a ship and have been for 28+ years. Am I a shiphandling wiz? No. Because all it takes is one aw schit(Capt, Joe Hazlewood,Master of the Exxon Valdeze comes to mind) and all them atta boys would be gone. Is that why you are not IN the game now? :?
I recently took an advance metrology class here at Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies taught by Lee Chesenau, A man with 35 years in the field who spent a good portion of that time at the National Weather Service who said he would like to debate Al Gore on GW. Al has refused all request to debate any of the Climatoligist or Metorlogist! What's up with that? Geaux Tigers! If they lose to Ol Miss, my life will go on just the same!

Did not mean to mislead you TODO...I worked at Jackson Hole with ski bums from those countries back in the late 1980s/early1990s and hook up with them periodically in places like Snowbird and Copper Mountain...

As for the 100+ days per year, I cant put it any better than Toxie: "It's not a passion; it's an obsession." My deer club is 29 miles from my house and my duck club is 37 miles from my house so I do a lot of commuter hunting. Hunt in the morning, come back to town to work, then hunt again that afternoon. Cell phones help keep the ball rolling as well. Specifically, I own a tree planting company, a management company that specializes in hunting and conservation and deal in land as an investor/seller and as an agent. Not a bad life so far but the Wall Street mortgage crisis/credit crunch caused by Al Gore could soon force me to "get a real job" unless somebody will hurry up and find some oil on one of my pieces of land so I can get serious about hunting...100+ days per year is nice, but 200+ days per year including Africa and South America would be even better...

Be careful out there Mudsucker...Ol Man River put an end to many a fine man, including my grandfather who died hunting ducks in a blue hole off Lake Ferguson in the early 1940s.
