Ray Boltz question ?Gay?

Postby ducksplorer » Tue Sep 23, 2008 8:27 pm

I had heard today that Ray Boltz stepped out of the closet and found out that he was gay. My dad heard it the other day on one show and he heard it on AFR as well. I read an article where the writer said this might open up the doors for other "Christians" to come out too. I sure hope not.

13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Lev 20:13

Cut and Dry right? No if ands or buts about it.

I am not saying kill all the gays but I am saying it is wrong. I am not perfect by no means but I am not gay for sure. How can someone be a "gay Christian." I believe you are one or the other but cant be both. It makes me sick. How could Sodom and Gomorrah have been worse than the U.S. is today?

The bible also says that no one sin is greater than the other. So it doesn't matter if you Lie, Cheat, Steal or are Gay or if you abuse alchol, or drugs that is a sin. IMO everyone has a vice that have to deal with.. Being Gay is the same, you have to deal with it on a regular basis to try and not give in to temptation. Coming out of the closet, might be the best thing for the guy.. It may put him on the road to recovery similar to an AA or Drug addiction program.. Admitting you have a problem is usually the first step to recovery.

Do I think it is wrong.. Yes, but so are a lot of the things that I do, so you won't catch me casting the first stone.

It is wrong. What I have a problem with is the media throwing it in my face in movies and tv shows like it is great. Then they want to tell me I'm wrong if I don't agree with it. If you want to be gay, that's your choice. Don't tell me I HAVE to accept it and that God made you that way. That, my friends, is a CROCK!!!

Woa killa. Being gay is in no way and addiction, it is a lifestyle choice. I have problems as much as the next guy and believe "Judge lest not ye be judged". The problem is that the reoccurence of sin. He is saying that I am gay and will be gay. As a christian you know what sin is and should flee from it. People try to change what God is to make it fit their lifestyle. God never made anyone gay and anyone that doesn't believe that needs to get deep in the scripture. Not standing up for what this country was founded on has gotten us into the situation we are in now. No pledge or prayer. Mark my word that in a few years we won't celebrate Good Friday either because of what it stands for.

You can say that Drugs or Alchol is not an addiction as well. Take Glutony or instance.. Is it a sin, Yes.. One of the 7 deadly sins.. Lust is on there too. So if you overeat and or if your a man that lusts for another man, they are both sins. You have to deal with them to overcome the sin. Stop eating and stop lusting. Either they are all addictions or they are all life choices.

I will add this.. When I went off to college, my assigned roomate was Gay.. I knew it the minute I talked to him. It made me very very uncomfortable. But I stuck it out. I saw it as a learning oppurtunity to learn something about a topic I knew nothing about. During the 6 months that we were roommates I asked him all types of questions. And I came to realize that his brain is not wired the same way mine is... NO WAY. There was something different about the way he sees other members of the opposite sex. Do some people choose it as a lifestyle.. Yes... But others that are Gay, choose not to live life as that way out of knowledge that it is a sin.

“…Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortion ers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

If he wants to be gay its a desicion not an addiction. The good lord knows that if he struck down people that loved cake I would be a dead man but I am looking at Sodom and Gommorah. Your room mate was not born gay...he chose that path and if he were a Christian the Holy Spirit would convict him of his wrong doings...he would turn form evil. Living in a homosexual relationship constitutes habitual, unrepented sin.

So then your saying that these are all Life Choices.. Ok, I can go with you on that issue. You choose to take a drink, eat the cake or fornicate with another guy.. When you fail, it is due to lack of willpower? Right? So can a Gay person turn his life around and be saved? Can an Alchoholic? Can a Thief? Can an Adulterer? I would hope so.. So if people with these sins can stop, then you have to assume their is a reason they started drinking, doing drugs, stealing and so on.

I will also say this. There was another guy that went to our church. We suspected him of being gay.. But he hid it very well. About a year after I met him, I got called to go and talk to him. He was on the verge of suicide because he knew the thoughts he was having were wrong, but didn't know how to control it. You think he wanted to kill himself? No he was struggeling with dealing with an issue that he knew was wrong.

We are really on the same page I think. Just don't think we agree on if it is an addiction or a lifestyle. I belive that anyone can be saved just if you are a true Christian that your thinker gets changed and you would not want to "live in sin" which I see as the Gay lifestyle. Really think that this is out in left field but I don't know a Southern Baptist preacher that would agree that it is an addiction. Its not in nor ever will be in Gods plan.

My Dad was both an Alchoholic and an Adulterer. It cost him his marriage, it cost me a normal child hood and his Addiction to alchol cost him is life about 2 years ago. He tried several times to stop, to get help and to live a better life, but he would always fall back. I saw him struggle with these things, just as I have seen my friends struggle with thier sexuality. I find that some of my Dad's struggels carry over to my life and I have had to struggle with those issues.

I think God gives us crosses to bear. And whether we call it an an additciton, in character, or a lifestyle choice.. It is still something that everyone has to be deal with, and I don't think any of the above issues is something that you can turn on and turn off at will. If they were that easy to stop then I would call it a lifestyle choice. Maybe addiction isn't the word either. Based on my dealings with Gays before, I know they just didn't say. Hey I want to be Gay that would be fun.. They fought it for a long time, and still do.. That is why I say IMO, it is not a choice, but a issue that they must learn to control. Same as other issues in our lives.

Wink, I am not mad or anything just want to clarify myself. I do realize your statement is very true. That is why I said I am not perfect. I do things that are equal since all sins are equal. There is one thing for sure about forums as I was reading over some of the stuff above. You can not tell the person's exact emotions I wasnt hammering him for his choices for every time i point my finger there are three staring me down. I guess one thing that I dont understand and this goes for every sin is how can all of us make excuses and try to make it right. Most of those that says gay is ok are non christians I guess. I dont know, I guess after the second coming we wont have to worry will we? I wasnt trying to really stir up anything just wondering if anybody else had heard anything. I tend to pick hot topics around here. lol. Ya'll have fun with it. One other thing do I believe they can change? yes I do. I believe a once gay person can become a Christian. There's just a lot of things I dont understand like a lot of Christians and it might come off in the wrong way sometimes, but again I guess we will understand everything one of these days.

Being Gay is a sin.. But all Christians are sinners. Heck how many of us went and looked the Foxy Jackie site (me included  ).. How many of us were sent the email pics of the girl in the Frat house. That is pure lust.. How many times have I seen some degrade or belittle somone based on thier race, color or political belief. That is not very Chrisitan either. Your last question in your post is how can someone be Gay and be Chrisitan.. The same way we are all Christians.. Because we believe that Jesus is the Son of God that he walked on this earth and died for our sins (all of our sins) and was resurected. That is what bonds us as Christians. Not what type or how many sins we have. I believe that it is our job as Christians to help those that confess thier sins to us.

there is so much I want to say and I am not going to copy all the parts I need to,so I will just give my DRO .02 of whatever you what to call it

as a recovering alcholic(7years),junkie(18years),porn addict(7years)smoker(6years)dipper(6years).(I know yall thought I was a goody, goody :D )I can testifiy that what ever vice has a grip on you it can be turned loose if you let Jesus have that problem, lay it on the alter and walk away from it even if it means changing friends and staying away from family and falling back on Phil.4:13. Its not easy in the morning drinking coffee with the guys at work and someone lights a Doral light or when I am hunting and someone gets out the copenhagen,or God help me when I get off work and been weedeating all day and stop to get a coke at the store and the beer cooler is the first thing I see........and lets not get into the glutney cause I love some good food and am working on that.....yes as long as we accept Jesus as our savior we are saved and going to spend eternity with him, once saved always saved, just some of us will not have rewards as good as some others, however Jesus saved us from sin not to sin.....when we say we are Christians we are saying we are Christ like........and some of the things I struggle with is am I showing Jesus in all I do.........all said and done you just dont decide after 10 years of marraige and 4 kids you are gay..........and thats the way God made you........I aint buying it.......its a lifestyle just as addictions.......and somewhere along the way satan put them thoughts in his head probably from another gay guy who was showing him some attention..........
Thanks
