Muscadine Section 1???
Muscadine Section 1???
Usually I would go and scout an area before I hunt it, but this time I could not make enough time to get up to Muscadine.
I have heard that there is water on Section 3, 4, and 5, but I haven't heard anything about Section 1.
Does anyone know what the report is on Section 1 at Muscadine Farms?
Thanks for any help, like I said I would usually be able to scout myself, but I have been with my second year of law school.

I have not been over there, but we got around 12-15 inches of rain on the 4th of this month. If the ponds were stopped up, there should be PLENTY of water!!!
Re: Muscadine Section 1???
thanks guys I really appreciate it. Looks like I will be headed up there shortly...
Re: Muscadine Section 1???
Have you tried calling the game warden responsible for that area. If noone on here knows, maybe you can catch up with one of the GW's, and they should be able to tell you.
Be where they want to be..

Normally I would agree with your tactic there Blackhawk, BUT, if you don't have a full area of hunters at Muscadine, IT SUCKS!! You can't compete out there with live ducks ALL around you. If you have hunters everywhere the birds move. My best hunts at that place have come when all hunters made there hunts, my worst was when NOBODY showed up for there hunts.
Re: Muscadine Section 1???
If I remember correctly, Shannon said that #1 was holding a lot of birds last week. No one hunted it last Saturday though. We were covered up in #4...didn't have time, or the need, to put out any decoys.

I was there last Monday-water in each of the teal ponds, but not a single bird to be found!

Re: Muscadine Section 1???
Well this was my first time up at Muscadine and never found the hole. Either the was no water or I was in the wrong spot. I followed the map, however, the levees that are shown on the map that lead to unit apparently are not accurate. Once I walked down the first levee with unit 2 on my right the road turned into a crop. On the map it shows that there is a road/levee there. Well there was nothing even close to a levee. However I walked all the way across the field to the tree line, I found nothing. I spent about an hour and a half walking around in the dark. Once it became light enough to see I walked back to my truck and tried a different way in. I saw what could have possibly been a hole, but I was not sure. I decided to turn around and head back to jackson. There was another group hunting 6, but I never heard them shoot so I figured there were no birds flying. If they had been shooting I would have stayed and tried to find the hole.
My point to this rambling post is to complain about the out of date maps or non-labeling of the units. It would not require that much effort to mark the entrances to the units or atleast update the maps each year.

well if you would of went all the way down to the ranger station then turned around and headed back it would of been on your left and if you walked from the road all the way to the end of the ponds theres a slough that some guys have leased and have a couple blinds on it and there was a deerstand out there lastyear.neway if you would of gotten to it and turned around again im pretty sure that is one of the ponds on section 1...i think there are 4 ponds on each section someone correct me if im wrong
ENJOY LIFE, THERES PLENTY OF TIME TO BE DEAD..

Re: Muscadine Section 1???
The map's accurate. Pond 1 is flooded. It's pretty difficult to find an unscouted spot alone in the dark, especially with so many mosquitoes. The drawback to the reservation system: some folks depend on internet scouting.
