The great spinner debate continues......

Postby 70 sprig » Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:19 pm

I'd be the first to put my name on the list . I have faith that the good folks at MDWFP will listen if we speak loud enough .

I'd like to see the regs read more like this ....

Fellow sportsmen , we the MDWFP have listened to the voice of the mississippi sportsman , and we will act upon your wishes . We may stand alone as a state on this subject , but we're not here to please other states , it is our job to please the mississippi sportsmen .

As of the 2009-2010 duck season anyone caught anywhere in the state hunting over a spinning wing decoy will lose their hunting privaledges in this state indefinately .

This is not a trial period , THEY WON'T BE BACK , use'em for target practice , throw'em away , burn'em , hell , sell'em to the arkies , we don't care , just get the hell rid of'em before you take to your favorite killin grounds this fall .

We should be proud of our heritage here in our fine state , we will not let $ sway our decision on this , we will not w hore our ducks out , that ain't how we roll in this fine state .
We don't think that this is quite what Mr. Buckingham envisioned back in those days when he was watching the beautiful sunrises over the unmolested waters of beaverdam , DO YOU ??

Now we understand that there will be some that just don't understand why they can't take their crutches to the duck blind , we're sorry , but we can't please everyone .
However , the mississippi duck hunters have spoken , and we have listened . We value each and everyone of you that buy a hunting license in our state every year , but if you can't play on our spinner free play ground , then get the hell out .

sincerely ,

Your MDWFP

F that! I got 10 of them mojo's. Kill the hell out of some shoveler's with um. Want one of those texas tornado things. Anybody use um? If they work, maybe i'll get three. . .

In all seriousness, who gives a $#!+? There using them so much north of us that they cant be that big of an advantage when the birds get here, maybe they even flare the educated ones. If a few topwaters throw them out no sweat by me. They are legal ater all. Lets sing kumbaya.

I remember my papaw thought an auto shotgun was unsporsmanlike. Of course this was before steel.

I ran an independent test on spinners. Went in the backyard down here in H'burg and stuck a spinner in the ground by the swiming pool. I waited all day not one dam duck. So I guess busting ducks is more of a location, location, location thing than a spinner thing.

hell I dont care if i hunt over them or not, i dont own any but i have hunted over spinners and didnt really see a differance with or without them. Gotta be where the ducks are at to shot ducks, you could have a whole lake full of those muthers and not kill a duck if they dont fly your way.
Surely the longer a man duck hunts the wealthier he becomes in experience,in reminiscence,in love of nature,if he goes out with the harvest of a quiet eye, free from the plague of himself

Personally, everytime somebody brings one of them to my hole, i usually end up cutting it off.
Seems to mess things up for us. I hate those things.

I can see where it works in flooded timber, but thats about it.

Nonsense! Double-check the polarity on your battery. You probably accidentally had it reversed which causes the spinning wings to rotate in the wrong direction and, consequently, repell waterfowl rather than attract them. If the ducks seem spooky and hesitant to commit, simply add another battery in series to increase the rate of spin which should draw them it quicker.

Our thought process isn't gravitating just toward Arkansas F&W. We've discussing a bigger picture. Stay tuned. Storm is brewing.

Not pickin on you , so don't take it that way .

The men that would like for their children to actually learn something about the behavior of the critters that they are hunting give a *@#@*

The men that remember what it was like before the spinner days give a *@#@*

The men that have seen what these things have done to our sport give a *@#@*

The men that hate to look across their favorite timber hole that they have been hunting for years and years and see what resembles a damn circus give a *@#@*

The men that get up at 1:00 a.m. , drive an hour , take a two hour boat ride , spend an hour breaking ice and gettin the spread set out and HOPE they can be ready by shootin time , only to have some " killer " roll in on'em at daylight , stick a pole in the ground , flip a switch and start flaring their birds give a *@#@* .

You see , to me it's not so much how deadly spinners are , it's the company the damn things keep

Hey wait a minute! I resemble that remark.

Come on guys. If the booty clowns that would set up on you are using spinners, don't you think they would still set up
on you if they weren't. Spinners don't make that much of a difference if any at all. I have done the research myself. If the bird
is coming he's coming with or without a spinner. If he flares, he probably would flare if there wasn't a spinner within
100 miles of him.
