Draw Hunts
Draw Hunts
Ok, here's my scenario. Due to entering Radiology School, I'm going to be very VERY limited as to the amount of time I get to spend deer hunting this upcoming year. I didn't re-join the deer club for this reason, but am going to get back in next year or the year after depending upon what happens this first year, and whether I feel I can handle it in the 2nd year. (in all probability it will be 2 years before I can get back in) All that said, I wouldn't mind putting in on a couple of the WMA draw hunts, but with them limiting the total # of hunts you can apply for to 3, I want to make sure I put in on ones which will give me the best opportunity to get a deer. I am not looking for monster bucks, or bucks in general for that matter, and would be satisfied with simply a doe or two this year. I believe the best way to handle replies would be via PM, to keep everyone's suggestions hidden from John Q Public.
I am not a OOS'er looking for coordinates to your local duck hole, just a little input as to which WMA deer drawings you feel would up my odds a little. I need to make the best out of the limited amount of hunting time I will have this year.

Methodist School of Radiologic Sciences in Memphis. Right now we're just getting kicked off. 1st and foremost is Physics and how it relates to radiation safety. We've JUST started in on "positioning and procedures". All in all, I'm really enjoying it so far. This stuff is pretty neat. Upon graduation, I will be able to do X-rays, CT, interventional, MRI to name a few. Cardio, Nuc med, and ultrasound require 1 1/2 years or better of additional school to be able to perform. We'll make rotations through each, but can't go on to do them without the additional schooling. If I go on to pursue anything past the initial schooling it will either be in Cardio or Nuc Med. I don't think I'll be getting into ultrasound. Most folks don't want to hire male ultrasound techs because they have to have a qualified female representative in the room whenever ultrasounds are performed on women by male techs. (or so I have been told)

CT tech my self. Stay away from interventional, field is fading fast. Your best bet is ultra sound if u like to hunt. Focus on doppler and cardiac.

Re: Draw Hunts
Interventionals are fading??? Really...actually, that's the field (at this point) I seemed to think I would be one I would enjoy. I will have to do some research on it before pursuing that direction. I don't really think I would want to do Fluroscopy day in, day out though. At this point, what seems to catch my attention the most are Interventional and ER (ED) whichever y'all call it, BUT you have to remember, I'm only 2 weeks into a 2 year program, I'm sure it will change 15 times between now and the end of school.

I couldn't see why someone would think Interventional is fading. There are so many procedures and research going in that direction I think there'll be less and less full fledged surgeries in the future.

Come work w/ the a-- hole I work with and you will see why strongriver fells the way he does.Fortunatley he was able to get out while our entire dept. pulls in about 110 hours every two weeks without even getting a thank you.
Now then, get your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me. Genesis 27:3

Skeet is right. The people can make or break you. Vascular surgery is takin away all the good stuff, we were left with the abcess drains and junk like that. I feel sorry for skeet because they are all getting the shaft. Thats why I left. Tough if you have a family with all the call.

Re: Draw Hunts
That is a very good choice.....right now anything in the medical field is always a great choice...can go anywhere...anytime....GOOD LUCK...
so who says...A GIRL CAN'T HUNT....
Re: Draw Hunts
All 3 of my kids got drawn for one youth hunt I put them in on, and amongst them, I would think at least one would get a deer. The youth hunt they got drawn for is covered up in deer. Hopefully this year will be like it was last year when my daughter saw 11 the 1st evening of the hunt, and my friends son killed a small doe in another plot.
So far I got drawn for Hamer Muzzleloader and a special buck tag on Upper Sardis. There are a few hunts still showing up as not been drawn for yet, so my fingers are crossed, hoping I'll get another one, and my kids might get drawn for the other youth hunt I put them in for.
