Pups in water
I can't keep my 9 week old yellow out of the water. She is doing 20 -25 yard retrieves. Is this as far as I should go with her right now. Where do I go from here?

Good for you. I wouldnt push my luck much further as if she panicks or gets in trouble YOU have to go in and get her. I have seen some swim great and I got one that started like yours but then one day she just act like she forgot how to swim ( I think trying to swim to fast) swimming straight up and down and I was worried but I didn't push my luck after that. Let the pup dictate what you do but don't push her and don't go crazy and try and get her to do things that could get her in trouble you got plenty of time for that.

Re: Pups in water
Thanks for the advice. She is a fish. I will be careful to not over do it. As far as getting her acclimated, wsmith, I live on the Tenn-Tom and have a clean area to work her. The first time she approached the water we were in shallow water where she could keep her feet on the ground, yet still get wet. I actually went in with her. Tons of praise while we were in there. Within 10 minutes she was swimming in the deep water and she hasn't looked back since.
