What are some opinions about what hunting means??(not just duckin') Is it just the means to an end??(the kill) Personally I think of the video thing as just what it is, entertainment. Its just like a motion picture in the theater, some people love it, some hate it. I like some if they are presented right, but others can bore you with kill after kill. Hunting to me is about it all, the scouting, buying new equipment, prepping the equipment, staying up too late with friends the night before the hunt and about a hundred other aspects. What are some of ya'lls favorite parts of our great sport???

ANTICIPATION in a word. I as well as most of you probably get all psyched up for the season, be it painting decoys, replacing old, worn out, or broken equipment, working dogs, building blinds, reminiscing about past years' hunts, or just whatever. I think we all enjoy the whole experience leading up to the grand finale. Any of you who have ever spent any time just hanging out in or even working in a "outdoors" store know how most hunters are when they come in looking to buy something new...they are like a kid in a candy store. They are all excited and are quick to tell you just how they plan to use the piece of equipment they are purchasing. Oh well, that's my view.

The memories. The anticipation. The sport. The friends and/or family. The outdoors. Just to name a few.

Featherduster, that's a hard question to answer.....I'll just say I like it all......'just some things more than others.

I agree with your assessment of videos as entertainment. I think the content is sometimes mis-construed (by some) as "this is how it's supposed to be done.......and since the phrase 'Be like Mike' became so popular......I think young duckers latched-on to the celebrity/persona of folks like Phil, that obviously know what they're doin' when it comes to duck hunting (and can be entertaining in the process)...and adopted their methods, attitudes,.and approach to hunting ducks. That is neither a good thing or a bad thing, other than the fact that many never really formulate their own views....they just adopt someone else's that they wouldn't mind being associated with.

I don't know why I kill. It's harder and harder for me to pull the trigger on a deer other than it's a lot cheaper than ribeye steak.

I'll echo the phrase of others.......it's the ANTICIPATION of cupped wings, green heads, and orange feet that gets my blood goin'! I do like a good shot and an enthusiastic, well-mannered retriever, too. Seeing the dog SO FOCUSED and INTENSE is about 90% of it, for me......just to see'em LIVE for the moment.
