New Chevys

Postby TODO » Tue Jul 22, 2008 6:22 pm

Anybody driving a new chevrolet 1500 crew 4 x 4? Posted mileage is 14 and 18. I get 17 all around in my 2007 truck. Dealer says he gets 20 all around in his 2008. Sounds like $#!+ to me but maybe so?

I got 20.8 on the highway to memphis and back home friday. I did set the cruise on 70 though. Around town I get 16-17 usually.

07' 1500 4x4 with 52,000

14.7 overall average
60% Highway
30% Turnrow
10% City

I pull a bunch of crap and don't have a light foot though...

He aint BS'n. Took my friends 08 crew cab to MO turkey hunting, added 104 octane boost and got 22 mpg up there and back. No way my 06 crew cab would do that.

I know the 08 Yukons are not a chevy but almost are and they do get better than the 07...roughly 20 to 22...It switches from 4cylinder to v8 on depending on the conditions of the road.

Dad got a 07 loaded out Crew Z 1500 (truck has 285 instead of 265 tires.)... in econ mode running 4 cyl on board comp was saying 22-24 mpg yesterday going to jxson.. while in normal mode was saying 14-16mpg.. dont know the actuals..

it would switch to econ mode on down hill and flat ground and while idling at red lights..

i wasnt driving and havent been in it enough to play with the buttons to see if you can lock it in econ.. i sure someone knows how to do ...

it seemed that his only did it while going down hill and flat ground with a tail wind but it does have oversize tires so i am sure it is picking up the extra load of the 285 BS maxxis mudders.. he is fixing to buy some new tires for our suburban and put those tires on his truck and sell the BS's.... they probably got 40-50% tread left on them..

I got a 2008 GMC z71 11,000 miles crew and have been getting 19.9- 20.1 according to the computer driving to work in Venice LA every hitch from waynesboro running the cheap stuff. A guy on the rig swears he gets 22.5 - 23(same year 35,000 miles) coming down from monroe LA running the high octane gas. I dont get as good going home but after 14 days my foot is pretty heavy when i get off the rig.

I've got a 07 GMC Sierra Crew cab with the 5.3L engine, 30,000 miles. The computer is now up from 14.7 mpg to 15.0mpg. Most of my miles are on the highway everyday.

On another note.....the econ mode of switching from 8cyl to 4cyl is only designed to do that when the accelerator is not pushed. It was created to help increase mpg during city driving and all of the stop signs and red lights. It works on the highway some when going downhill or downwind when in cruise control b/c the accelerator is let off. It isn't supposed to go down to 4cyl for any other reason. The only reason I know this is b/c we got one of the first Tahoes out of the factory when this first came out in 06. We couldn't figure it out and neither could the dealer and after a bunch of phone calls in which they even got one of the GM engineers on the phone he explained it all.....b/c we were ready to give the Tahoe back b/c we thought it was a lemon. The dealerships even thought it was supposed to move to 4cyl on the highway and were mislead. I did actually ride in an 07 suburban that would shift to 4 cyl when cruise was put on 65 on the interstate.....must have slipped out of the factory.

Problem is your depreciation of an 07 in only 1 year. It takes 2-3 years before it's worth getting a new one and won't make up the difference in the gas mileage even if you're paying interest on the 07.
