Back from Argentina
Back from Argentina
Well fellas, if you can ever take the time to head to Argentina for a wingshoot, I would say do it without hesitation. I have just returned from the greatest shooting experience of my life. In four days seven of us killed 1525 ducks. A low number by what our Estancia owner told us due to the worst weather for duck hunting he has seen in 10 years. I still say if this is bad, I would damn near be afraid of what good would look like. Most every day we had a 100 bird tally. It was just one heck of a time. DR2 had all details worked out and everything went off without a hitch. In fact I have never seen an operation run as well as Lodge Jacana where we stayed. Anyway, got in and just recovered yesterday and now I am at work. I will do my best to put pictures up later this evening. I thought I would update everyone, good to be back in the US now.

WHOA, how is your shoulder and hearing?
If it doesn't work out there will never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain.

Shoulder is surprisingly fine, and earplugs work wonders.

they can use lead shot...ducks in SA dont die of lead poisoning the way they do in US...so low brass 6's are all you need
thats a lot of shooting but its not like you are pounding them all day with with high brass magnums
its a great trip and all in all pretty affordable with some proper planning (although I havent priced airfare lately

looking forward to pics

Re: Back from Argentina
So did you ever get you 100 ducks in a day total?
Re: Back from Argentina
I was fortunate to accompany Jeff and DR2 to Jacana this year. Jeff is absolutely right in that the operation there at Jacana is superbly orchestrated. Hard as it is to believe, everything was always on time and perfect. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the trip. I will definitely be back and if any of you were ever considering a trip to Argentina, look no place else.

DR2 and I after a foggy morning hunt.

My ugly mug with the counter (says 105) after the 3rd morning shoot...would have only been 70 if Jeff were in the blind that morning!

My buddy Rod struggling to hold up our morning's kill (85 that morning)

The most beautiful cinnamon I've ever seen

Rod, I'm sure he wished he'd brought his supply of little blue pills.

Re: Back from Argentina
i see the teal, what other ducks are there
Re: Back from Argentina
There are six versions of teal, Ring, Cinamon, silver, speckeled, black head, and one other, plus a yellow billed pintail, white cheek pintail, rosy billed pochard, chiloe weidgon, fulvous tree duck, and white cheek tree duck. There is a large variety of ducks down there to say the least.
Re: Back from Argentina
Someone post those pics to another site so us "at work" can see them..
