Digging Dog Problem
Re: Digging Dog Problem
Trust me.. You want to use the electric fence.. Your backyard is too big to do the whole bury the metal or concrete thing.. If you need some help putting it up just let me know. I know your probably worried about hurting the dog with the fence.. But he will only touch it once or twice and then won't ever touch it again.. Mine doesn't even have to be plugged in anymore... They just see the wire and back up..

+1 This has worked on all three of my dogs. They wont go anywhere near the fence. Took me about 30 mins to run over 300 ft of this stuff.

Yep, I used to have a really small back yard and my lab would climb over my fence and visit the entire neighborhood while I was at work, then climb back in when it was getting close to time for me to be home. I ran a single strand of wire around the top, only took about an hour for the whole thing. Opened the back door to let her out, and just stood there with the door open. A couple of seconds later she came flying back in like something was after her, never climbed out again after that. I'm sure that it would work just as well for a digger as it did for my climber!

Hardware cloth works very well. It is more durable than chicken wire. Put it down where he usually digs, and he'll stop digging pretty darn quick once he meets up with that stuff. It also stops beavers from eating around trees.
