Boy Scout Sporting Clay Fundraiser
The 14th Annual Boy Scout Clay Classic is scheduled for Saturday, August 23 at Camp Yocona.
This will be a registered target shoot, with 100 targets spread out over 12 different stations. Cost is $80. Lunch is provided. Bring your own shells. There will be 2 (maybe 3) flight times, depending upon the number of shooters, with the early time being 8:30am and the second flight beginning at approx. 11:30am.
There will also be a separate 5 stand set up for additional cost for those who want to shoot more than 100 targets.
Folks, this has been a fun event over the past 13 years since it was first started. It has grown to an event that annually has approx. 150+ shooters and raises in excess of $15k for the Boy Scouts. Our goal this year is to clear $20k. And we need your participation to reach this goal.
I can't think of a better cause than our youth and their development through scouting. This would be a great warmup for dove season. And for you seasoned clay target shooters, this is a registered target event, as indicated above. (Also, on this same date, there is a registered target shoot at Whitetail Ridge, which is less than an hour drive from Camp Yocona --- so, if planned right, you could easily shoot in both to make a day of it).
Many fathers bring their sons (and daughter on occasion) with them to shoot. It is a great opportunity for the youngsters to see Camp Yocona if they have never been, and if they are not already a scout, to ask questions of the scout personnel in attendance about scouting.
If interested, call Ruby at the Scout office (662-842-2871) to secure a spot in one of the first two flights. If interested in competing as a team, ask Ruby about the corporate rates and team competition. Hope to see you out there.

Po Monk - my Son and I will try and attend. He's in Scouts and currently about 18 months from Eagle. He's camped at Yocona on many occasions and loves to shoot.
Son, be sure to check the oil. The gas will take care of itself. George Carter - Circa 1965

Re: Boy Scout Sporting Clay Fundraiser
Camp Yocona is located near Yocona.
One way to get there would be to take the Yocona exit off of Hwy 6 (east of Oxford) and follow that road until you see the sign for Camp Yocona --- you will go through Yocona on the way.
The other way is to take Highway 9 from Pontotoc headed south toward Bruce. A few miles outside of Pontotoc will be a turn to the west onto a county road (do not recall the name) which will lead out to Camp Yocona. There will be a sign on Hwy 9 indicating the turn to make to get to Camp Yocona.
