Drake Waterfowl Systems

Postby Don Miller » Wed Aug 27, 2003 8:12 pm

I have been friends with the owner of Drake for years. I am glad to see that Tate Wood's new company is doing well. Their clothing seems to be well thought out as far as quality, comfort and function. What are y'alls thoughts about the Drake products? For those that are not familiar with Drake, check them out at http://www.drakewaterfowl.com

Only problem I have with the clothing is that it is too high.

I could not agree with you more, their products seem to be very well thought out as far as comfort and FUNCTIONALITY goes. I own the handwarmer/fanny pack, and I just bought the new jacket. GH22, where are you shopping? The drake jacket is one of the cheapest I've seen, way cheaper than columbia or browning, who seem to very very proud of their clothing these days.

These guys have great ideas and will go along way. My cousin is the co-owner of the company, and they are some really nice guys from the Mississippi Delta.

I have six of the turtle neck wader shirts, all in break-up. That is the only thing you need to wear if you wear waders. It doesn't matter how cold it gets, Or if it is raining. Good Stuff. Bege told me they were going to put pockets on them for this year but I don't think it happened.

The belt or clip on pack is great. All of the products are great!

Tate is a great guy, and a really hard worker. His ideas are incredible. He has really helped the Mean Mallard out, and his lines sell themselves. It is good quality gear, and Tate will do extremely well. I don't mind paying the price for gear that I know I can wear for years. Just my .02.

My only complaint is that no one around here carries their items! When are they going to offer their clothing for sale on of their website? They can still charge the retail price and that way they don't undercut their retailers.

If Mossy Oak can sell direct to their customers then Drake should be able to as well. Does anyone know why Drake won't sell direct to the public?

ScottS,

Check the website. I received my copy of Drake Waterfowl catalog about ten days ago. I can't remember if I asked them to send me one or if my name popped up on their list from all of the other crap I subscribe to, but somehow I received one.

I got the catalog. Pretty pricey but that is typical of hunting aparrel. I really like their logo. I will be at least purchasing the OD green drake cap. I hope they do well.

DD,
Two of the wader shirts now have pockets, the quarter zip and the full zip. I had the opportunity to meet Bege at the Mean Mallard a few weeks ago, great guy. With the thought of a waterfowler implemented into their products, their sure to go a long way.

I couldn't believe it when I looked in macks prarie wings last night. They had the drake jacket that I bought priced for 219 I think. I bought mine for 169. I've never known this store to have "that good of a deal".
