I am headed up there on the 7th. We are going to taking my boy to splash mountain and dollywood. Ripleys has an aquarium up there also. Not sure how good it is.

Gatlinburg has got to be the biggest white-trash, redneck vacation spot east of the MS River...... and I love it. Dollywood is there. Too late for the Elkmont Fireflies (2nd week of June I think.) And like was mentioned earlier, Cades Cove. Ober Gatlinburg has a skating rink, alpine slide, and ski lift.

Only saw two non swimmers while I was there and one of those was wearing handcuffs..................

Re: Gatlinburg, TN
We were up there last year, a few things to do.
comedy barn is good its in pigeon forge they have music also if you like some good pickin
pigeon forge bear jamboree is owned by the same folks, you can go there and acutally get better prices on the tickets if you buy all together than buying them at each venue. The comedy barn is interactive, so you can get family members on stage. My brother in law got to be elvis, we laughed our butts off at him. The jamboree is a dance and music, alot of 50s and 60s music, sort of like a chuck e cheese show but better, also you get a meal. Food was pretty good too
the ripleys aquarium is awesome, you can spend about a half day there easy,
gatlinburg Mall
if you like smokin a pipe and tobacco products check out the http://www.gatlinburlier.com/
for the pipe smokers i reccommend the Mountian Maple and jack black bourbon,
there is also a hot sauce store and alot of gift shops. If you have younguns you can basically let them loose if there old enough. Its a 3 story building, the candy store on the corner at the main intersection in front of ripleys aquarium is the only entrance I can remember to the Mall.
If you looking for a good brewery, http://www.smoky-mtn-brewery.com/ is across from the ski lift up an alley street. The wings were awesome, but i was 3sheets to wind from drinking their sampler when i got them.
If you play golf you have to play the Gatlinburg Municiple Course, its in pigeon forge. You drive right by in on the way to dollywood. the #12 hole is awsome, 194 par 4 with a 200 ft drop.
also make sure you go at night in gatlinburg, this time of year they have different music groups playing, its all free.
whole alot more to do, dont forget your wallet.

I am petty fond of it myself. There is no shortage of things for the family to do, and definitely no non swimmers to speak of. Bumper boats, go carts, putt putt, rides, ripleys, dollywood, waterpark, aquarium, ski lift, etc, you can spend as much as you want on entertainment and that much more if the wife likes to shop. Take some time, pack a lunch and go to cades cove. It will be a welcomed adventure and inexpensive compared to the rest of the stuff. I recommend getting a cabin with hot tube on the deck, so you can kick back in the cool mountain air in the evening.
Another hint, If you go to dollywood or the waterpark, DO NOT GO ON THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!! The crowd is 3 times as large and you spend all your time standing in line. There are lots of coupons and discounts you can get online ahead of time that will save money!!!!!!
There will be a day....
