Retrieving Issues

Postby DrakeDaddy » Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:51 pm

I have a 1 year old lab, he retrieves great when using the bumpers, fake duck, etc. When I use a real duck he does not want to bring it back to me, he wants me to chase him around.

Anyone have any ideas how I can stop this problem before it gets worse....

Thanks

Start with a long check cord.....
So many ducks, so little time....

Collar condition............but, I agree with the check cord. Throw the duck short and make him bring it back with tugs on the check cord. Don't drag him, but tug, "here", tug.......Then collar condition him to here and his other OB commands. Problem solved.
