Tupelo Po Po out to make up shortfall

Postby Seymore » Thu Jun 19, 2008 5:59 pm

Daugher's boyfriend got a ticket this evening because SHE the PASSENGER wasn't wearing a seat belt. I know it's the law, whatever.

Once he saw it was two kids and the driver had his belt on, the cop should have just chewed her out for being stupid. Article in the paper yesterday said th Po Po was short several thousand because they budgeted fuel at $2.80 instead of $4.00. Evidently, they're going to try to make up for it with seat belt tickets.

i know you are upset but it just doesnt work that way. police departments dont get money based on how many tickets they write. if you had seen as many dead people that would have survived if they had their belts on as I have you wouldnt be so upset. I do agree that a warning would have sufficed. When my kids start driving or riding with their friends they will be punished severely for not wearing them. In 13 years working as a cop and an insurance investigator I have never seen one case where a person died because they had their seatbelt on. NEVER. I know it can happen but the odds are very very slim. I have seen fatalities that seatbelt or no seatbelt they wouldnt have made it anyway but never one that the seatbelt contributes to the death.

I agree, she was stupid for not having her belt on. I think the cop could have made an impression on her without the ticket to the boy.

Gub-ment trying to take care of us.
No more individual FREEDOM and reaping the results... we be too stupid to know when to pee, if smokin is bad for us... complicated stuff like that, and wearin a seat belt. Dat's what big brother is for. To protect us from our ignorant selves so we dont get hurt....

Cant take care of ourselves, so the gubment takes half my freakin check to pay for the ignorant souls who wont work... because they know better than our ignorant selfesssss. Screw that FREEDOM b.s. stuff...
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

I don't think that 25 dollar ticket is going to make up the shortfall for fuel expense.......... Some people just don't want to live by laws... These are the people who don't like the police, but they are the first ones calling the police when something happens... They want the police there right then but want to talk bad about them when everything is good.......... Get a life and pay the damn ticket.....

My best friend lost his daughter because she didn't have her seatbelt on.

They were on a date. Hit a tree. He is okay. She is not here anymore.

He has to live with this. And my friend gets to live without his daughter.

What is a few dollars to make an impression on your daughter to wear her seatbelt.

You need to hug her everyday and ask her to do the things that will allow her to be with you for a long time.

I miss my friends daughter. Always upbeat and full of life. Keep your daughter safe.

I don't care for the seat belt law,I have been in a wreck where if I had been wearing one I don't think I would be here or would have been hurt very badly walked away with just a scratch. And it is about the $$$ to a large degree, they (law maker's)were not to interested in it till the federal goverment threatend to cut federal hwy $$$ if the law was not put in place.I'm grown and there are more important things going on in this country and world than me being made to wear my seat belt, which I do just so I won't be hasseled by the po po.

Evidently, you didn't read the post. She was the passenger and her boyfriend is the one who got the ticket. She should have had her seat belt on, but, I hate that he is the one who got the ticket. I am paying the $25.00 for him. The Po Po could have made a better impression by eating her out instead of giving him the ticket.

Thank you for your contribution.

Bottome line is the seatbelt law is ignorant. Yea they save lives, I know that and you know that, but by george if I dont want to were a seatbelt what gives the government the right to make me wear it??? I am not hurting anybody but myself by not wearing my seatbelt......

And since when did the government care about saving lives???? ABORTION is legal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And about the law enforcment, how does the law PREVENT crime?? Every lawman that I have ever been stopped by was a stuck up smart ass that got a power kick by pulling people over!!!!!

Anyways, thats my 2 cents

Most of the time the attitude of the officer is determined by the attitude of the person he has pulled over. I for one choose to cut police officers a little slack even if they are a smart***, cause I never know who they had to deal with before me.

Seymore, I have to agree. He could have probably made a much better impact with a warning. Also, I never ever dated a girl whose father would have payed any kind of ticket. He must be a good one.

Seatbelts save lives. Plain and simple.

Please don't put all Police Officers in the same catergory. There are some smartazzes and the rest are great officers. Most of the smartazzes are great officers...some just aren't good with the public. The rest I cannot speak for.... Just try not to judge a man or woman unless you've walked in thier shoes... And remember:

"....Watch your thoughts, they become your words Watch your words, they become your actions Watch your actions, they become your habits Watch your habits, they become your character Watch your character, it becomes your destiny...<"
