Can you all give me some recommendations on who makes the best pit blinds and where to purchase them? Hunting located in Sunflower County.
I would appreciate any input.

This place is Fielders Welding, Call for Steve Fielder, 662-832-1025. Hunted out of one of his blinds this last year made from an old dumpster. Pretty awesome setup. He can design and fab pretty much anything, any size.

I know that steel is almost double what it was last year...I am adding 2 pits this year and after looking at all the prices that people wanted I just worked up a deal with a guy I know that owns a Fabrication shop and he's doing them for me. I know that the material cost for each pit is $600.

What gauge material and how big of a pit.

Re: Pit blinds
11 gauge and the pit will be 12 ft. I wanted 14ft foot but that was going to cost me a good bit more with the way he buys the steel sheets. He said the sheets are 6ft wide and 12 or 20 ft long so I just made it easy on him and went with the 12ft so I wouldn't have all the scrap.
I was looking on some sites for just plain not fancy 12 ft pits with a dog box, flip top and they were consistantly $1250-1300.00 now as opposed to last year this time at $600-700.

Re: Pit blinds
What about angle iron bracing and tie downs are they included in your price... Im not trying to be a dick asking all these questions. I would just like to know becuse we cant build them for that...
Re: Pit blinds
H2O, he quoted me the price for the amount of sheets he needs per pit and the angle iron bracing. We are using the bottom foot anchor for the anchor. The only thing it didn't include was the flip top which I can weld myself. I just don't trust myself welding the pits and seams being just a now and a then fixit welder. Also don't have all the heavy machine cutters and rollers for the edges. As for what he is quoting on the material price, he is a very close friend of my brother and I know his business handles several accounts with large coorparations and mining companies and I am sure they order several hundred tons of steel a year and maybe get a bigger break with bulk. I don't know??? Then again, my brother took his brother last year duck hunting and had a outstanding weekend of hunting minus the freezing rain. He is real close with his brother and he himself doesn't duck hunt. So in the past when Me or my brother calls and ask if he has some angle iron or left over expanded metal laying around to keep rigging up new duck hunting gadgets and ideas he always tells us to come and get it and when I try to pay him something he always tells us to take his brother duck hunting so we do.
I don't know if this figured in your pricing but he isn't charging me anything to weld except maybe some BEER.....
