Liberal = 60-6
Moderate = 45-6 (I don't think 45 and 4 has ever been an option)
Restrictive = 30-3
Closed = Closed (Just for the slow folks)
The regulatory alternatives have changed since the original AHM and NAWMP were published.

No sense being pessimistic, it probably wouldn't work out anyway.

Follow this link for more than you wanted to know about how seasons are set. See page 14 for the season/bag limit options. See page 17 for the May pond count/ mallard breeding population matrix that determines what season/bag limit we get.

OK!!!! Question for those who know? Is it far fetched to think that the Government could somehow Federally Protect a vast portion of the PPR. Before you think I'm wanting to give the government anymore power on this, as I know this upsets alot of people, but it seems like before it gets out of hand they are the only ones that could take control of it. I give plenty of money to both DU and DW as most of you, but they can't compete with the corn, soybean and any other biofuel crop craze that farmers are demanding right now to conserve what is already in CRP. Not to mention the grain industry. And it seems that the Gov. CRP payments can't keep par either. From all I read and know about the PPR in North & South Dakota and Montana, it has the biggest effect on duck production and not only ducks but alot of other migratory birds and other types of animals than anything else. And I don't in anyway mean to offend any farmers!!!!!
In thought of this, I was just thinking that if they could Federally Perserve/Reserve/Protect (which I think you can hunt perserves) this and pay more than fair wages to the farmers who control and own that land that it could save this one and only stretch of land. Think of it like saving the Everglades!!!!

remember these "frameworks" just dictate the maximum season a state under that framework can have...so an individual state can implement a more restrictive season if they so wish.... So we could end up with a 60-3 (or biggie's 45-4) season if our state decides the guidelines are too liberal...Arkansas has excercised a more restrictive framework in several ways.....I'm not saying it will happen, but it could happen....
I'm just sayin'
