Speckled Trout Taxidermist

Postby bamaman » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:31 pm

Anybody know of a guy that does a GOOD speck mount? I got a good one that i want to mount, but so far all the ones i have looked at look like a log with scales. If you have any suggestions or especially a picture of a mount that would be great.

bamaman,

Once you find someone, see if you can get references and look at the trout in person. Personally, I would go off of pictures and any reputable taxidermist would have some good friends that would be pleased to show off his work.

If you can't find anyone, there is a guy I trust locally and you could ship it to him. As soon as I get a 5-6 lbs speck , he will have one for me to do. Also he will be doing my 1st 40 lbs bull red I catch.

David Luke Taxidermy, Mandeville, LA. Ask DR2's kids about his fish work they have some at their house. He will NEVER win a speed competition, so expect a good year to get it back, but it will look great.

personally I don't, but I can easily get some. He is along the same lines at the guy that Jeff knows. He will take some time to get it done, but his work is awesome. Let me know if you need some pictures. I will call tomorrow to get prices, just to know the current prices.

Pictures and prices would be greatly appreciated, if you get a chance to post them or send me an email that would be wonderful. I dont care about the time it takes to get the mount back, as long as it looks good.
Thanks

current prices:

$15 an inch for Speckled Trout

$14.50 an inch for Redfish

He has two specks on his wall finished and will get me some pictures of those. He has a 4.5 lbs and a 7 lbs in his shop. As soon as I get them, I'll post them up. He mentioned he wasn't sure when he can get to it, but I trust that he will send them to me.
