Men, i will place a wager that when Fant or whoever takes Madkin's place that before the end of his career at state we will be booing him wanting his backup to play. Since Jackie has been up there, after the Sleepy days, state has a had a string of ineffective QB's. we booed jordan for plump, plump for taite, taite for madkin, and now madkin for fant. Forgive me if my order is wrong, but does anybody see a pattern. State has had some good QB's, but they play like the coaches want them to play. just my 2 cents. Andy,

I think you speaketh the truth. State has had a QB controversy ever since Don Smith.

At least it looks like we have finally recruited two "real QB's" in Fant and the kid from Texas - Kyle York. Madkin has been an admitted project of Jackie's and I think that is why people are fed up with Wayne. He runs the plays we call, but when we call for a pass to a receiver he seems to throw it over there head or at their feet.

There is nothing wrong with Sparky's offense if we hit the receivers. You can also argue that the 20% of the catchable balls thrown this year were dropped.

Oh well, I can't wait until hunting season and baseball!

I'm a dawg fan, but I have to say this. Unkljohn, most talented players, not most talented team. And when I watch them play, that is exactly what I see. A bunch of talented players out there in there own individual worlds. They havn't figured out how to play as a team, and probably won't. Yeah, madkin may win, but he doesn't appear to be too much of a leader. I'd like to see ALOT of people lose their starting positions if they don't get a sack of nuts. Justin Jenkins needs to quit whackin off before the game so he won't have all that Vasoline on his hands. I'm tired of watching him drop pass after pass.

I want to reply about the sparky's offense deal. State will never have a successful offense as long as he is calling plays. Against SC the first drive of the game was mixed up and we scored. He didn't go back to that until it was too late.

Against Auburn after msu got ahead of them he basically did one play. Run it up the middle and punt and lets hope they defense holds them the rest of the game. Look it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out on the first two drives that we couldn't just run it up the middle but what does sparky do anyway when the fourth quarter came along. I have seen plenty of high school offensive coordinators call better games than has.

South Carolina didn't get rid of him for no reason. At times I belive old Sparky's betting against State and calling plays so he can win a little money (for future purposes) because I don't think anyone else wants him.

Now Peewee.....

Who is the HEAD coach? Who do you REALLY think is telling Sparky what offense he wants run? Who is the coach that hired Sparky? Doesn't the fact that State has always been a running team mean anything to you? Seriously, Jackie is going to his death bed with our running game. The problem is, we can't pass a ball for a completion for more than 2 yds. When you can't do that all the other team has to do is put 9 in the box and shut us down.

I agree on some of the play selection. On the other hand, if you call a play and the guys don't block, pass it to the receiver, catch it, hand it off, hit the right hole, etc, then what can Sparky do? It all boils down to EXECUTION.

If you have a rifle that is dead on accurate and you keep jerking the trigger is it the trigger or guns fault? Sparky is the gun and the players are the shooter. They just aren't pulling the trigger right.

Just thought I'd tie this discussion back into something hunting related in some way.

Actually, with 6 minutes left, state ran the ball once and threw 2 incomplete passes. That gave AU and extra minute of time on the clock.
Also, with regard to play calling, who call a TE reverse on their own 15 yard line?

MSU Duck Dawg is dead wrong. We haven't had an offensive coordinator since Watson Brown left. If it were not for Joe Lee and some good offensive atheletes that could win despite the play calling, we might be 0-for since Brown left.

As for execution, it is not out of the hands of the coach. Who do you think teaches and makes the players execute? They don't do it on their own before and after practice. It is the coaching staff's job to make sure that the team can execute the plays.

I really can't believe that any State fan would take up for Sparky, or any of the other sorry offensive coordinators that we have had since Brown.

But hey, it could be worse..........we could have a defensive (they do have one don't they?) like Ole Miss.

MSU's Defense is overhyped, yall haven't had a real good defense since '99. Yall gave up 52 to Florida, 45 to Ole Miss last year, 17 t a sorry USC offense, I don't know exactly how many points yall gave up to A&M, but I know it was over 30. in 1998 and 1999 yall had an awesome defense, but all you state fans think it is still there. Well it's not, your D is riding the fame of the '98 and '99 defense.
