You may want to check water stages. Majority of the water up here is way up.

Buffalo Nat. River has some cool cabins built CCC back in the 40's .They are really cool, and the Buffalo tends to be shallow in a lot of places near there. I know that they do some fly fishing there.I was there 2 years ago, and at that time did not have a fly rod,so we just opted for some canoeing.

MIller, if I were you I would strongly consider Tellico Plains, Tennessee. It's only about 140 miles from Atlanta. Check out http://www.tellicologcabins.com. Also, it's a free stone stream so you won't have to worry about water release schedules. The log cabin website I listed has cabins available right on the water. Although the cabins are downstream of prime trout water, it's still beautiful. If you're not famililar, the Tellico River sits along the Cherohala Skyway. It's only about 30 minutes from North Carolina. There is a great waterfall that's only about 15 minutes from there called Bald River Falls. The cabin my wife and I stayed in was nice, but only cost about $70 bucks a night. There are stocked browns and rainbows, as well as wild fish. I believe the farther up you go you may get a shot at a wild brookie. Keep in mind these won't be trophy fish. Most fish you catch will be in the 10-15 in range. Hope this helps.
