LOST MY HUNTING BUDDY

Postby LILDIG » Mon May 12, 2008 7:32 am

A friend of mine came up to turkey hunt with me sat. We checked on them several times during the day up running around the pen. He left around 6:30 and my family and i went to eat about 2 hours later we come home i go down to check on them and she is down and looks almost dead. We drove to nashville to the 24 hr emergency clinic. They did test checked for everything he said he has no clue what happened. We lost her on mothers day. her sugar was low, and sodium was real high. Diet has not changed ina year and a half. i live on a farm away from everyone, so i have no clue what got her down so fast. been a hard weekend. My 4 yr old is still asking me were she is. Just thought i would put it here she was a great friend and hunting partner!!!!!!

Very sorry for you and your family. I cant imagine losing one of mine. They become part of the family. Hope you find out what happened. Are they doing an autopsy? We have lost pups before and were clueless about the cause. The vet suggested an autopsy and was able to figure it out. May cost, but could give you some answers. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.

It is always hard to lose them and especially hard when it was sudden. Your memories will become a comfort to you and your family.

I hate to hear that man. I've been there. Lost my sidekick a few years back. I have three ytellow labs now, but just have never gotten as attached as closely with any of them. Same thing happended to me...came home one night and he was lying on his side near death. Was healthy as could be earlier that day (only three years old), but took him to the MSU vet school and they never could narrow down what it was. Once again sorry bout your loss.
