Postby MudHog » Mon Apr 14, 2008 3:21 pm

Has anybody seen this or actually had dealings with this company/website?

http://www.lensrentals.com/

Can rent Nikon and Canon lenses.

Example:
Canon 100mm-400mm f4.5-5.6 is $66 for (1) week and insurance.
Canon 300m f2.8 is $199 for (1) week and insurance.

Never rented from them, but I know the owner Roger is a top notch guy. He used to be a member of a photo club there in Memphis and I met him through the internet. He's a regular on fredmiranda.com as well, and I've never heard anything but good stuff from people who rented from them. They're located in Memphis for local pick up if necessary.

Oh yeah, also, do yourself a favor and don't rent or borrow a 300 or 400 2.8

You'll drive yourself crazy figuring out how to buy one :D

I really see where that is very possible.

It would be nice to use an expensive lense for a little while and return it. Unless your doing photography every day, a large expensive lense likely isn't worth the money.

I have used them 2x and have no complaints. I haven't met Roger, but i have spoken with him a few times on the phone and met a few of his staff. I chose to pick up the lenses and they made it easy and let me pick it up at the Semmes Murphy Clinic instead of driving to G'town Pkwy. I also know a friend that rented a 5D and 3 lenses for a project and he cut him a deal. Renting a lens is well worth it if you are trying to decide between a few lenses or don't have the capital to purchase the one you want.

In fact, I am thinking of renting a lens or two for this weekend trip to OB...if I could just find out if I got that darn photopass. :?
