Just Wondering if anyone knowes of any type "spray" that I can spray on grass that is laying on top of Water --> that will not kill that aquatic life, underneath.
Trying to keep cost down due to have a lot of grass
Thanks,

Never heard of alligator grass, however, there is an alligator weed. Alligator weed is not a grass at all. Is yours a grass, or is it a broadleaf plant? Why don't you take a picture, and then we can decide what to spray on it. If it's alligator weed, then 2.4-D will probably knock it out.
I have a huge weed I.D. book from when I was at State. If you'll post a pic, I can find it in that book.
If you want even more info, go over to the MDWFP forum, and ask that same question under the farm pond management forum.

The Tn-Tom waterway over here is full of it. Gettin hard too find a place too fish outside of the channel. I thought the corp was suppose too keep it under control. Only thing that eats the stuff is the nutria. This stuff floats around in mats and will stop a trolling motor in its tracks.

"You can either shoot on the next pass or watch me do it." Winchester rules hehehehe .......Amen
If I am thinking of the grass that you are talking about then we have plenty of it also. Rodeo will kill it and only what you spray. Rodeo is very similiar to Round-Up but doesn't stick as well so add some liquid dishwashing detergent to it. Also cost about a 1/4 of what Round-Up does. What will eventually happen is it will choke out everything below it, then it will die forming a floating compost pile called pluton(what I heard cajuns call it) then other invasive plants will have something to grow on. Eventually it will lock up a body water were even a mud motor will have a hard time to get through.

Rodeo will do it and not harm fish, 2-4-D willl also work. I'd avoid roundup, especially if you have any wind, willows, and smartweed.
Use surfactant! Alligator weed and water primrose is a major problem around here too. KMC is right, this is 4ft of water with smartweed growing on one of those dead mats.

I have the same problem every summer with aligator weed and a few years ago I went to the Mississippi State Extension Services here in Vicksburg and they gave me all sorts of pamplets on it. They recommend using Rodeo as, and stated before, it will not hurt the fish. Bad thing is that it is quite expensive, but does work.
