Re: First Job?
I worked in my mom's office filing medical charts around 15 or so, but it didn't work out (I wanted to hang out with friends more).
I then worked at my uncle's company for several years doing various things. In the summer we would farm to get fields ready for hunting, bush-hogging roads, clearing shooting lanes, making duck blinds and setting them out, repairing farm equipment, etc. Not bad work, just grew out of it for a reason or two.

If it doesn't work out there will never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain.

Well from the time I could reach the middle bar on a push mower I had the job of mowing our grass. My family always as a huge garden. Well I worked in it all summer untill about 13 when my dad informed me that the garden was mine and the vegies for the year depended on me and my decisions. It was great I loved and did damn good at it I thought
. Every christmas and thanksgiving when the relatives where gobbling up sweet corn, purple hulls, butterbeans, and them good ole tomaters my dad would brag on me like I was the best gardner in the world. I plan on doing the same to my kids you really learn how to work and pride yourself in something and the pay off is eating all that good stuff. Well at 15 I started working for stoneville pedigreed seed pulling leaf samples all day. I did that for two summers and moved over to the state side at stoneville doing gps, radiometry, farm work, and scouting bugs. When I went to state I got a job in the seed lab and did that untill I married. Then I took a job driving a truck for postal service and now I work at Gulf States on the maintenance crew. Graduate in december and can't wait to get a job in my field.

First job was swingn a blade and drivin bluetops on the county engineer's survey crew when i was 15. I did that in the summers for 5 or 6 years. Worst summer i remember was we were paving shaw skene road, i had to walk with the paver and keep up with the tickets from the asphalt trucks. That asphalt smell gets in your pours after a day or two and takes a month to get out. EVERY thing i ate or drank that summer tasted last asphalt!

I really think the democrats around the delta lay down and rub that fresh asphalt into their skin cause if you smell a funky dem it smells just like fresh asphalt.... In my opinion that is...

My first job was working on the farm. Stayed with it till I got out of high school. Went fishing for the next 25 years. Worked a few odd jobs every now and then during that time. Bad thing about fishing was when you didn't cash a check on Sunday you didn't eat the next week! Anyhow gave it up and came back to the farm after 2000 been there ever since.
Re: First Job?
In highschool and college I worked at a poolside bar at a country club in Florida. When I was old enough, I mixed margaritas and flirted with old women who tipped generously. I saved up and bought my first boat before I bought my first car, if you can believe it.
Life was fun. Then I got married and had to find a real job.

Started filling the airplane with gas when I was 10 or so. Graduated up to mixing chemicals a little later, when I could pick up a 5 gal can of methyl. Also had the grass mowing duties around airport and house. Decided this wasn't for me, so at age 16 went to work scouting cotton. Did that till college. Graduated college, then went back to the airport, flying this time. Lot better job.

Worked as a warehouse slave every summer since I was 12. Putting boxes, xrays, microfilms, tapes, and just about everything else up for storage on the catwalk systems. Mow yards after 5 for a little extra.

Started dragging seed bags to the back of the bob truck when I was 7 or 8, and went on from there as I got older. Started driving a tractor at 13, working in the rice field and such. Worked at Helena Chemical for a couple of years, drove terragators for a couple of years. Drove a truck for Jimmy Sanders and worked as a flight instructor for DSU until June of last year. Now I fly a $50 million jet across the country taking people to were they want to get for the lowest price they can get.

grass cutting. at 14 got a job from the city of North Carrollton. was in charge of cutting all roadways in town(luckily a small town)..push a big heavy stinking Yazoo mower around from 7am-around 3 pm. mon-fri.
Next summer step father gave us jobs at jj ferguson..building box culverts..worked down in the hole that summer..next summer got to run the portable concrete plant and drive a cement truck!! also used a front end loader to load the hoppers on the plant...while waiting for orders, I'd climb on top of loader and practice with mt bow.
in college, summer job for 3 years was checking cotton for insects with Mr Jim McCrory around greenwood. good paying, but hot as hell.
soaking wet in the mornings, roasted in the afternoons.
entered air force and became a AIr Traffic controller...still doing it..
and have my own side-line business..'Honey-dos'...small remodeling, carpentry, tile, etc...
if your wives start putting too much heat on you guys, gimme a call!lol

I worked for my father in construction starting in the summer after the seventh grade. By the time I got into high school football I had gotten in such great shape practice was a snap and the money came in handy too. I loved it.

I'm flying out of Memphis now for Pinnacle Airlines, but I used to work for Delta State and I flew into GWO every now and then to shoot some approaches.
