The last morning of the season i sent my dog on a long bird. When he returned he had a deep cough. Thinking it was just water i really didn't pay it any more attention. This evening was the first time since the season that he has seen water. That cough came back after the third retreive. He didn't cough on the retrieve, it wasn't until he was on the bank that it started. It honestly sounds like something is in his throat, a dry cough so to speak. After a few short minutes he was over it. It has came and gone since then though. Noticed a little rumbling in his throat a few minutes ago, ruff sounding.
I'm heading to the vet tomorrow to get him checked out. Just wondering ya'lls opinion.

Re: Werid cough
My dog had the same thing. One shot from the vet cleared him right up after a day or so.
Your hunt is only as good as your dog and the people that are with you.

I hope everything is ok. I'm really close to my dog. I would hate if something happened to my dog or anyone elses.

Re: Werid cough
maybe nothing much. maybe something a shot can fix. maybe an infection and on the verge of a complete blockage... I agree, time to visit your vet for sure. good luck.

I would also have the vet run a swab for Blastomycosis. It may not sound fun or be cheap (I dont know, luckily mine has never had the symptoms)... but it would be well worth it in my opinion.
Ive only seen one dog go through the treatment- the blasto was caught early, but the dog still took about six months to get back to normal. She's fine now, with slightly degenerated vision.
Not trying to alarm, just hoping it isnt Blasto.
