Good labor, It's hard to find in Tunica. It doesn't matter what you pay. They only want to make enough money to get by. I guess thats why I do most of it myself!

4200 ac. crop, 850 ac. levee pasture. 2 full time and 1 in the way, thats why we went to no till and min-till 10 years ago.

I sure do love what I do!

DD

glad to hear you guys have gone to a no-till system I have read about the benefits and it all seems to look good on paper for the farm and the wildlife

how is it working for you? i dont farm but thought some of the guys on this forum that do might be interested in your analysis

not very much no-till acreage in the cleveland area that im aware of
agriculture still supports our communities to a large degree and if there are methods that will improve the bottom dollar i cant understand not implementing them

feather duster...i hear what youre saying about immigrants, but the truth is in many cases we produce inferior products at higher prices
until that changes ill spend my hard earned money with the man whos got the best quality for the cheapest price (value for my dollar)
unfortunately today for a variety of reasons that man aint american

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHHA....Farmdux..I love it. Very well said. Featherduster, I don't know where you get your information, but our reality in the MS delta is a lot different than the "dream" you're having in Vicksburg.

Doc, there is a good bit of no till and minimum till in the cleveland area. Had about 2000 acres of it this year, would of had more if we hadn't rutted up everything at harvest last fall. In my opinion it is by far the best, quickest, and cheapest way to go.

yea i like that no-till too. you don't have to walk in knee deep mud when it rains. on the subject of immigrant labor.....reform welfare and the free "disability" handouts and you won't need immigrant labor. it is a lot easier to go to work when you have to, not want to.
