Lead head jig and cocaho minnows.
Life's too damned complicated to make it too damned complicated
Re: Best Redfishing Lures and Techniques
Live shrimp with a treble hook between the black dots on the head with a popping cork.
If you can't find live shrimp.. White shrimp tails with bright red tails and we have also had good luck with both gold and silver spoons.

it really depends on the time of year... right now i'd try some suspended baits - either plastic under a popping cork or a mirralure catch 2000 or catch, jr. you could also try a top dog or she dog. but you can never go wrong with a trusty gold spoon.

I have a lot of favorite baits.
Top choice:
Purple and chartruese plastic cocahoe on 1/4 oz jig head slow tightline retrieve.
Popping cork with above lure tipped with shrimp
Baby 1 minus with saltwater hooks (added aftermarket)
Gold spoon
Live shrimp
Dead shrimp on jig head on bottom
Top water
In about that order.

That Norton Brass rattler is the shat for Reds. Weedless and can cast it a mile. They will look pretty rough after a couple of fish though. Anything gold works good. I also like a plastics and a jig head if the fish aren't active. I have never had a lot of luck with top waters (spooks, etc...) but have caught a few with them.

Re: Best Redfishing Lures and Techniques
I like to use standard cocahoe in original (black top grey sides, some may call it tuxedo) rigged on a 1/4 oz unpainted leadhead, with a gold spinner like you would find on a large beetle spin. Cheaper than the brass rattler, but works pretty darn good. Brass rattler is the shizzle, tho. I will tell you what else is fun, catch you some 3" finger mullet and fish 'em however you please, das how you catch the big 'uns. I know people that jug for 'em like dat.
Reds are about the dumbest fish that swims, tho. They won't pass up much as long as it looks edible.
