i dont know where the price of duck huntung has come from these days . people want to coplain about a lease i just looked at the web site of a new guide place in ruleville and they are asking $600 a hunt. ive lived there all my life, and where they bought has never been a duckhole. maybe they will find some coporate yankees that dont know any better. good luck to mallard manor they are going to need it.

I wish Mallard Manor well. I don't think it will go over to well though. They bought about 200 acres west of the Brooks 2 Farm and as far as I know this is the only hunting land they own. They may be leasing additional land that I am not aware of. If being wined and dined in at overpriced upscale lodge with marginal duck hunting is your idea of a quality duck hunting experiance, this may be the place for you. Like I say, I wish them luck on this buisness venture, but I don't think it will go over to well. Check out the link at http://www.mallardmanor.com

I don't know about you fellas, but I have 2 buddies with camps in that area, one only a mile or 2 from there and they have consistent hunting..
While I agree that's a lot to pay for a one day hunt, no need to "dog" the place. Some dumbas- will pay it and hopefully have a good hunt..
It looks as if at the very least he'll have a nice place to stay and a good meal. For some that's all that matters anyway ( I hunted with a camp where that was it for 80% of the members.)

MALLARD MANOR
I have to agree with Mallarchaser. These guys that started this venture have taken advantage of th "romance" of duck hunting. To some duck hunters, the meals and the lodging is number one on their list..not the hunting. So as mallardchaser said, there's no reason to dog the place. They'll probably make a fortune and I wish them the best of luck....but they won't get a dime from me!!!

I'm not dogging them at all. Like I said, I wish them good luck. Unless they have some primo duck land that I'm not aware of, I don't see them having too much repeat business. Hey, I have been wrong before. Fifteen years ago I thought that the bottled water idea was crazy. I may be proven wrong again on $600 per day duck hunts.
i didnt see anyone dogging mallard manor, it is just people making a statment. i grew up 1 mile from where they are building and know there have been ducks in the area but not where they have bought. i hope anybody who brings any kind of business venture to this area succeeds, everybody around here knows we need it. heck it might even give some farmers a winter job guiding. we need that too the last few years. its a risk, and im glad some people have the money and balls to risk it.

Hey GC..I found the place today and actually talked to one of the guys over it. His last name is Westmorland I believe..Real nice guy. Says they're mainly catering to the east coast for some reason!???! But anyway, If you go up 49, you go throught Hwy 8 intersection at Minter City. You take your next left by the old school. It's a county road now but it used to be Old Hwy 8. Anyway go down it about 3 miles until you see county road number 5. Turn right on CR 5 and drive a few miles. You'll see the place at a distance off to your left...big place. Take your next left and you'll go straight to it. It's not finished yet but you can tell a little about it.
