Re: So... How did everybody do....
For those of you who have not made it down to run West Ms I would highly recommending it. The grounds and the club members are top knotch.
The test are held on the Mahanna WMA, and the GW that runs the place leaves the water in the impoundments just like it is when it is duck season, that is unless they need a place to run land then they drain the impoundmant.
This year they ran a finished test on the wildlife sanctuary. For thos of you who have just wished you could step one foot on the sanctuary here was your chance.
Kudos to those who passed, enjoyed meeting you guys & gal
pntlhntr, I am still digging the mud out of my teeth that your dog kicked up when he took off for that mark.
Just remember, when it comes to a dog breaking in a test, there are those that have and those that are going to.
Rick thanks for the invite, hope to see ya'll next year.

Considering you forgot to take his collar off when you ran the blind I would say you were a little nervous...

Re: So... How did everybody do....
Timber test was 3 marks then a 60-70 yd blind through a narrow slot in the trees to the base of a big tree. Looked simple enough but was not. There were 2 slots and the first at about 15 yds was easy to hit. The second slot at about 40 yds was a narrow "keyhole" about 3-4 feet wide between 2 trees and if you went through you were in good shape to finish the blind. If you dog flared that second slot then it put him in dangerous territory kind of out of bounds in danger of losing him or at best having an ugly finish. The meat of the blind started at that narrow gap.
We had a few whistles ping ponging from one side of the gap to the other but I made her go through it and we had a pretty clean finish.I couldn't stay for the awards cause I had to leave with mine and Skippy J's ducks but I heard thru the grapevine that we passed- hope thats right
Glenn, how many dogs went thru that little slot? Did anybody line it?
Bill

Yea, your right it was the walk up, we believed it was a honest mistake, by the look on you eyes when I told you I figured you was thinking I was going to ask you to pick him up.
I would suggest to get a copy of the rule book and learn it word for word. It could mean the difference in passing and failing one day.
BTW the collar is allowed in Started.

Re: So... How did everybody do....
B3, in two days I never saw a blind get lined. Maybe a half dozen dogs hit the gap between the trees at the water blind. Second best choice was to the left of the gap.
Gotta say, ping pong or not, your blind was VERY tight to the line.
Congrats to all who received ribbons this weekend. West Miss did a great job, again.

Trey, glad to see you did not let the "started pass" loop hole you ran into keep you from doing something I could tell meant a lot to you. Congratulations. I would run under you any day.

Trey and Nash (and I don't think I remmeber anyone else being there!) got a started pass under me. The path to one of the marks was skewed around some high grass, but we still passed them!
