My brother has a .17, but was not sure if that thing has the power to get the job done...?

It's not. You will cripple and lose as many as you kill. Unless you can shoot every one of them in the head. Just get some 100gr bullets for your .270 (Remington makes them) or buy a cheap .223 bolt. The Stevens bolt gun (made by savage) is a very good gun for the money. Very accurate, and around $300.

Thanks for the input.
Anybody have a cane and a hat? I am going to make a pimp coat out of these suckers.

I've heard good things about the Remington .223 SPS Tactical and Varmint. MS Police Supply in Ruleville has some pretty good prices, but told me they would probably see a 10-15% increase after the new year.

Re: Coyote Killer
I use a Varmint AR-15 with a 69 gr bullet, works good to 400-500 yds, allows fast follow up shots if needed. Also 260 rem with 95 gr v-max.
Re: Coyote Killer
A 300 ultra mag does the job pretty good too.
