roll top wont flare the birds as much when you push it back. flip tops make em turn and haul booty, in my experience with roll tops they usually keep comming even after you roll it back.

I have hunted from both and like the roll tops better. You can start rolling the top back and not flare birds if your careful.

Biggest issue with roll tops is making sure not to catch a head when it starts rolling.
Wait until their feet drop, then shoot them in the face!!

boy this is almost Beretta/Bennelli/Browning....

I like the fact that roll tops are dry in the rain, and they don't tend to spook birds as much..... BUT, as a good buddy of mine pointed out a few days ago...Roll-tops are LOUD and can be more difficult to hide than a narrow flip top....

Roll. Less flaring, plus I had a flip top spring back on me once and knocked the crap out of me while I was shooting. Not good. But my buddies thought it was funny.

flip top is less to screw up

roll tops always come off track about the time the birds are hitting the decoys

Will someone please post up on their design of the flip top. I have hunted pits for the last 5years with just brush and am going to do something this year. I need to see pics and designs if you have them. Thanks.

I hate pits. But roll tops are much better b/w the two.
