DIB,
I can't believe that you are retiring. Seasoned work is easily doable for the do-it-yourselfer. Whats up with that? Are you secretly planning a FT career?

It wasn't an easy decision. As a first time trainer with a "hot" dog I wanted to make sure he was trained to his full potential (whatever that may be) without holes and the mistakes I was likely to make with him, or have already made.
I've read countless statements from people who made mistakes with their first dog, and the question marks surrounding the "what if's" that went along with those statements made me realize I didn't want to risk not giving my pup every opportunity to suceed.
I'll be involved, and he will still be a "house" dog. To many unknowns at this point including FT?? I'm going to let a professional tell me, as I don't have the experience to make that call. Roc is 15 months old, and he's with someone I trust to not only train him, but to tell me the truth about what he feels the dog can or can't do.
I'll be happy enough to get him back and train the best HT and duck dog myself, if that's the case. I walked into this with eyes wide open but the not knowing is going to kill me. It's going to be interesting.
Thanks for asking.......
Brian

I can assure you mine would be better off with a pro if the goal is winning. No question. I have had the same dilema but have accepted that he'll just have to be less of a dog. I enjoy the process more than the product, working out the problems that come up from time to time. I can't say my personal feelings won't change but for now he's stuck with me.

great timing of this post...
rowdy is 55 in a row (I want 70, longest streak Ive ever heard of was 66, clint johnsons savahanna... I dont want to do it to beat her, but to honor her, as shes one incredible animal). Has a grand pass, shudda already had the title a long time ago (amature handler, punked on a walk up in the upland, perfect in the 4th but missed a bird and wouldnt belive my buddy steve running him in la, etc. Hes 6 finished passes from 1500 points. So I want to hit 1500, finish my grand title, and get a total of 15 finished passes to finish my streak. If all that happens, I will retire rowdy at that point. I want him to go out, still kicking booty. I always hate to see the great ones run past their prime. Dont know if I'll make enough hunts this year to finish the streak, but I hope so.
Char char is going to GA grand. I can only promise nobody that witnesses it will ever forget it. bwhahahahah. Wrong game for her, and I aint got time to play another game for one dog. After the smoke clears and we're sent home and sign a few autographs, she'll probably be done. Ive never worked as hard on one dog, to still not be able to get past hush and sit, well, its hard for me to stomach. The most talented dog Ive ever been around. Maybe she needs someone a little more heavy handed than me... I dunno. Shes fun, and I love her, but she'll never be consistant with her boiling over poteintal.
Da Juice is just gonna keep on rocking. We'll hit both grands, he'll run when I am running, and be test dog when Im judging. He'll contiue to be a crowd pleaser and the highlite of most every training day to me.
Planning on 4 new hr's and an hrch this fall. 2 heathern puppys Im raising, diva and spooky puppy are the first 2. Start obedience this sunday if it aint raining. Should be hr'd in sept, and placed with folks who want kick booty hunting dogs. Savahanna is coming back in may, she's a nice dog. And cash, a rowdy puppy out of onery's litter than has never been fooled with much. She ought to be a challenge being so far behind. And baby sister, sweet little sandy, we got her put togehter just in time to hr this fall, and shes turned into a monstor this duck season. This mild little yellow bitch is amped up and knows her purpose in life now! Love to see the fires burning. Shes coming back in may to get put together for finished and I'm gonna love every minute of it.
Planning on hitting an upland this fall and adding some UH titles too.
Sunday is put all my hunting crap up, get all my training crap put together day. Next weeked is my 3 day, and I plan (weather permitting) to get cracking. Will be a busy busy year, but I'll love every minute of it. travis

Nash needs one Master pass and one Upland pass, Looks like T-bone is gonna run him for me at the Spring Grand. If we manage to pass all three, then I will talk T-bone into taking him to the fall Grand, if not then I am gong to let the old boy do wha the wants, train regulary run a few test every know and again and be my duck dog.
I have a new puppy, (Baden) that I would like to run thru started and seasoned by this fall, Odds are if she turns out then she will be my game dog, and Nash will get to be the HMFIC come duck season. I don't know why but for me running him puts me with such panic attack that it is not any fun, expecially when it is for something that counts, Like for a title run. I guess we will just keep on plodding away and try to gets us one of them 500 pts jackets one day.

Samson can't seem to make the ACT scores to get into college, he will have to settle for a technical education, and work, work, work...
