Got two and no complaints good boats. If I ever get a different one it will be a war eagle.

Probably wasn't your fault.

I trust this guy's internet boat opinion and read this about cracked welds. I've taken it to heart: http://refugeforums.com/refuge/showpost ... stcount=16

I'm not defending express boats, because I don't particularily like them. Keeping your bow too tight against the trailer "could" apply to any boat and some people may want to consider this.

I have never "cinched" it down, either.

I have an 02 Xpress 1650 with the Hyperlift hull. It's stepped like a bassboat and has reversed chines. Smooth, fast ride and slids right off stumps. It has longitudinal stringers instead of cross braces. Completly different than a flat bottom or mod-v bottom boat. I've had no problems with the boat. The 50 Yamaha on the other hand....

That I have made warranty claims on twice for MANY cracked welds all over the boat, and a crack in the hull at the eye ring where it rests against the roller on the trailer. It was fixed under warranty the first time, after much squaking by Xpress. Never could get the CS guy to call me back. Then many of the repaired welds cracked again, as did the weld in the hull, and they claimed it was suddenly my fault for using an improper trailer. Yeah, right. It was a freaking Xpress trailer that they sold me in a package. And why did the welds in the boxes and console crack repeatedly from an "improper trailer?"

The dealer I purchased it from, Hale's Marine, told me he no longer carries Xpress boats, b/c he got tired of having to tell people Xpress was not going to honor the warranty for welds cracking. Had Katrina not "distracted me" I was about to go nuts on them. I may still do it, just don't have my paper work any more. Its probably somewhere in Guam. Would I buy another Xpress boat, HELL NO. Not in a million years. They do shoddy work, won't return phone calls about warranty issues, and don't stand by the products they sell. And thats the bottom line.

Anyone who wants to come see what multiple cracked welds in an expensive supposedly "top of the line" duck boat look like before you toss away a bunch of money, I can hook you up. Seriously.

GC, I too had personallye experience somewhat related, but not as bad. I think around 2003 xpress changed mgmt and started to try to get price competitive. I've got an 2001 that is a tank and takes it well. It has the ice breaker that many are leaving off which exposes the welds also. Good Luck on getting something done.
