Time to refocus on dog training....your goals for the year?
Duck seasons over this weekend, Deer is just around the corner. Time to get the training gear back in order.
What are your goals for training this year? Tell us where you are at, where you would like to go..........
I put my pup back with a trainer for 60 days or so in hope of getting him ready for seasoned tests this late spring. I guess I'll get my fix by tossing bumpers for some training partners for the next few weeks......

Champ got his started title in October and I haven't done much since then. My goal is to get his HR title this spring and POSSIBLY, may be asking tooo much, but POSSIBLY his HRCH title this fall. Will take alot of training this summer but it's possible!!!
May try to work in a few Junior or Senior tests this summer as well, depending on how he's doing in Seasoned!!
I've been working on Piles and Hand signals this week. Aint doin it tonight as I aint training in an ICE storm!!! Looking for some training days to attend prior to WMHRC. You think Copiah would welcome me one day at his place?????

pntailhntr you are welcome to come train anytime you want , I LOVE to watch pups run , i love my finished dogs but the pups are my thang ! They are like a christmas present , they are wrapped in a pretty cover and you never know whats in there until you walk to the line . Aint surprise's grand
I will start back monday the 28th , i have the grounds the remote wingers , the birds , guns holding blinds and what ever you may need !
I will say i dont think you want to try senior (AKC) until your ready for finished (UKC) and make sure you read the rules on AKC they are not the same as UKC

I'm gonna have to make MANY training days with Brother. Hunting has made a MONSTER out of him! Due to chitty shots and lack of birds he has started retrieving ejected shotgun shells! Not good! I can only imagine how embarassing that would be at a hunt test. It would top his 9 minute water return at West Tenn!
Maybe if I talk about it, it wont happen!

Finally get around to runnin a Master test. Tossin the idea of runnin the Spring or Fall grand around. I'd like to try the amateur SRS deal but frickin college is expensive. But first we got to get over this beat up leg.

I have to polish force to the pile and hand signals. Also need to work on doubles and stop to the whistle in the water. Should be farther along than I am, but I have a little girl that will be born in March so that has been taking up a lot of time. I think I saw a whistle and a duck call hanging from the umbilical cord on the sonagram the other day though so I'm ready for her to get here. Hey Copiah if your training tuesday afternoon I want to come up. If you want to train next Sat. morning I can do that and help you out too. Just let me know. Look forward to seeing some of ya'll at WM. Pntail I remember meeting you last year, Champ is a beautiful dog. Can't wait to see him again.

Yea, I've been to an AKC training day and I went to the Duck Dog Challenge in the fall which goes by AKC rules as well. Alot different. You can't say anything at all once you say your ready. THAT'S tough and crazy. I like talking to my dog. Gonna be tough to get used to. I know I'm going to do Junior for sure though.
Guess Senior will have to wait!

If he breaks in duck season, guess what's going to happen at the test.
I agree. This season it has been real easy for me to keep the standard high... no birds=no breaking

1 week of "bootcamp" for Samson. No training since Flora Test, a lot of missed shots on my part, a lot of no bird days in the field, and the influence of a little monster named Missi.
Then we get back to the fun stuff, will be spending some $ as I have come to the conclusion that 2 remote zingerwingers is a must. Doubles are no problem, need honoring/breaking work, leading with the gun, handling work, pile work,...(damn I have a lot of work).
Goals with Samson...HR this spring, and 2 more passes for JH, and chill out to have more fun with this game he and I love. See where he is at in seasoned and what this summer brings, before forecasting the fall
Goals with Missi...SHR this spring, HR in fall, maybe JH somewhere in the mix. This little bug can get it! Really excited about her.
CC, if u still aint mad at me, looking forward to your training days. I know you hear it, but man the hard work you put in to set those up is greatly appreciated...
Leaving to train right now...
