Anybody else actually having a good year??
I look throughout this site and see one person after another saying how bad of a year they're having this year. Not exactly sure why, but i've had my best year ever as far as what I would call "good hunts". Haven't been skunked this year at all, with incredibly good luck all year on the sunnier days. A little odd, but i've probably SEEN fewer #s this year, but i've had way more success with them actually working the spreads. Must just be living right I guess!

Work is definitely a four letter word during duck season!!

I will have to say, that this year has overall been my best ever. I have 3 ducks at the taxidermist. This has been my best year ever, but none of my hunts beat my best hunt ever, which was back in 99. We actually got skunked one time this year, but that was our fault, not the ducks. I havent seen the most ducks this year, but have had the most work this year, and seen the biggest variety of species of ducks ever.
I will remember this season, no doubt.

I have to say this is my best year in a long time, and the most ducks I've seen in a long time as well. The weather has been REALLY good this year. It has been getting hot the last 2 weeks of the season for the past few years, this year it's been cold as hell for over a month! We even had an alright December with only a few warm days. Overall, I think it's been the best year in a long time!!!
But it's all DU's fault that the ducks didnt' come in earlier!!!

I don't know about the best year ever but I can agree that it has not been a bad one. I've not been 0'ed yet this year and like most you guys I haven't seen the numbers until recently. Got a few more mounts being done this year to help me get closer to finishing my collection, just need some divers and a black.

First season in a while down here in S.E. LA that has been good. The two cans deal really helped out a lot. Our season ended last Sunday, and our final tally on Cans was 118. You'll notice that's an even number and once they showed up we didn't miss our limit on cans at all. Also only missed the limit on Pintail like three times all season. It was a good season, I have had too many to try and decide which is the best. But it was good. It ended with a very unlikely Venice hunt, 20 mallards and 10 cans. I have never heard of such a thing as 20 mallards in one hunt down here much less done it myself. It was just a neat year.
Quality of the season is in the eye of the beholder. If I look at it this way, for the few times I went duck hunting this year I can say that I haven't been skunked. Also, I've been duck hunting for 15 years and killed my first band this year. Actually killed some good numbers of ducks on 2 or 3 different hunts, so all in all it has not been a bad year based on the few times that I've been. But on the other hand, when I look at those couple times that I worked my booty off for 2 ducks or 1 duck, it has made me question how much effort I want to put into next season. Main problem for me is lack of places to go. Gas too high to drive to delta to hunt on regular basis or even more than once a season. Duck hunting just isn't a poor mans sport.

I honestly can say that it has been a good year for myself and other owners of the property we hunt. Not necessarily by the numbers of birds that we have killed, but by the time and effort we have put in to make our hole a great one. Don't get me wrong though in the late weekends of the season we have been putting birds on the ground. But its the progress and outlook for next season that warrants me to saying my year was a good one. Still have one more weekend. . .
