jerk string kicker question

Postby richard b evers » Fri Jan 18, 2008 11:49 am

I would like to get a jerk string kicker decoy for next weekend trip to Arkansas. First, does any one have one and do you like it. Second, where can I get one around here – I don’t think they can ship in time (I can’t make it to Mack’s PW) -Third, if any one has one, and will let me try it, please send me a PM

If it's in stock at Mack's, they are the fastest shippers I've ever seen.
Where'd who go?

try this...set up a regular jerk string, only with a piece of string tied to the front of the keel (attached to the stake or anchor end) and then attach the pull string (the piece you will hold) to the back of the keel ...then on the decoy put an old funnel on the back of the keel, with the large end to the back of the decoy (be sure to run your string through the funnel) when you pull it back the funnel will cup the water making a splash and spraying the water....

i can't take credit for this idea, i saw blu hed had one rigged up this way and loved the action it created...so i set one up myself....

i keep 2 dekes about 1.5 ft. a part. Took the wieghts out of the keel and replaced with half of a lead strap wieght and re-sealed w/ shoo goo.
Since they are so light they really splash around, and the half wieght keeps them from flipping over...
be sure to run a wieght off your pull string too, keeps the line from popping up and out of the water...

Just wrap the string around the head of the decoy rather than the keel. Cuases the decoy to bobble and ripple way much more than a normal jerk string.
