All you bammers are alike... No matter which sport you talk about, bammer is always "head & shoulders above" the rest of the conference.
Give us a figgin' break man - AK isn't coming to the crapstone.
I'm surprised you didnt spit out something about 12 NC in FB & start talking about diggin' up the Bahr.

If you'll read my post again I said "other than Florida's RECENT unparalleled success Alabama is the 2nd best program. Obviously KENTUCKY is head and shoulders above everyone, including Florida if your talking about the last 25 years. Yes, Lsu has been to the final four as well as Mississippi State, but so did George Mason a couple of years ago. A trip to the final four is instant validation for a program, but certainly doesn't make up for 25 years. I don't have time right now, but I will certainly research the issue and let you know overall wins, tournament wins, conference championships, conference tournament championships, etc... Again, by no means am I saying Alabama is a dynasty in basketball--that's comical at best. However, I stand by my original statement that over the past 25 or so years, Alabama has been a more successful program than anyone in the conference other than Kentucky, and yes I'm including Florida. Florida's dominance didn't really emerge until the last ten years or so. As I said, I shall research and post some empirical data to back up my opinion.

Ok, here's some food for thought. These are the statistics from 1983 to 2005 (SEC website doesn't have anything later) for Alabama. I haven't finished yet, but I'll give you Alabama's. Might I add over the history of our program we hold a winning record over every team in the league, except for Kentucky, which obviously I conceded was the end all be all in the SEC. Just curious, and honestly I haven't checked yet, but how do you think these numbers stand up against the rest of the league, again, excluding Kentucky.

Bama's records from 83 to 05

Overall record in conference 210-160
NCAA tournament apperances 14
SEC regular season champs 2
SEC tourney champs 4
Sweet 16's 8
Elite 8's 1

Does anyone REALLY give a red elephants booty what kind of stats you pull on UAT? Wait. I'll answer that...nope!
At least if you are going to waste bandwidth on that nonsense, move it to the sports forum & by all means make it relevant to modern day sports!

I have to know.. Why do you keep saying that Bama basketball isn't a dynasty then revert to their past 25 years? Enlighten me.

Hey Elephant Ear. Your down playing of Ole Miss has ruffled my feathers. I played baseball at Ole Miss and would like to correct you on my chosen sport. I you would take a look at the preseason polls (and I know what they amount to before you express your opinion) but Ole Miss is ranked #4 in the country.
Now for Basketball, the jury is still out. But 15-1 (loss to #8 TN) is not a bad start to any season in any division. Last time I looked we were ranked 15th in the country and after we beat Auburn this weekend, we should go up after the FL victory.
Now for AL you still rank #1 in "Over Paid Coaches" :D

I'm not downplaying Ole Miss's success in baseball, or any sport for that matter. I asked a question regarding Andy Kennedy's salary and got some smart ass comments regarding Alabama's basketball success of late. It's funny how the very recent success of Ole Miss's basketball program (i.e. the first 16 games of this year) will bring out the Ole Miss supporters in droves. What makes me laugh is if we were having this conversation last year, or any year for the past 30, Ole Miss fans would be scarce at best. I didn't start this thread to have a debate about the success of Alabama basketball vs Ole Miss basketball. No matter who you are a fan of, that wouldn't be much of a debate. I simply made the statement that Alabama was traditionally a better program than Ole Miss. I've backed that up with statistics, much like Kentucky is traditionally a better program than Alabama, or North Carolina is traditionally a better program than Duke. (remember Dean Smith was winning championships while Coach K was still woopin' off to the lingerie section of the Sears wishbook) As for you eSJay, you cared enough to waste what I'm quite sure is valuable time on responding to a post that, in your opinion, has no merit. Apparently some people care because they challenged me on the statement that Alabama was the 2nd best program in the league. Because of said challenge, I chose to prove my point by posting stats. As a matter of fact, I'll go on record and retract my statement that Alabama is the second best program over the past 25 years. After further research, I now say they are the 2nd best program in the history of the SEC. My original post said "I don't mean this as a slight to Ole Miss." Guess what, I still don't, and noone should be offended, any more than I would be offended if someone said Kentucky was a better program than Alabama. Fact is facts boys and girls and the fact is Alabama, over the last however many years, is a better program than Ole Miss. Sure, Ole Miss is having a good year this year, but that's irrelevant in this discussion. I suppose because Ole Miss is off to a stellar start and Kentucky has a sub 500 record that the Rebel program is now looking at Adolph Rupp in the rearview mirror. I know, that's absurd. Just like saying that because Ole Miss is off to a great start and nationally ranked that they're traditionally a better program than Alabama. Again, I didn't start this topic to discuss the success of the 2 programs. That being said, think with your head for a second and not your heart. If you were an up and coming, successful coach which program would you rather lead?

tuscaloosahunter- I think we live in a world of what have you done for me lately. And in saying that, no coach is going to look back to 1988 and see what a team done twenty years ago in deciding where that progam is now. (example: Nebraska in football and the coaching search this year)

Alabama has had 5 twenty win seasons in the past 11 years while Ole Miss has had 6 twenty win seasons in the past 11 years. At the end of this year that stat will go to 7 for Ole Miss and 5 for Bama. For you to consider Bama the 2nd best basketball program in the SEC over the last twenty five years is a joke at best.

As far as Kennedy is concerned - Why would he leave his home state, a team that is currently ranked 15th in the nation (that is loaded with freshman and sophomores). a school that has started a $10 million dollar basketball addition, and other things for Bama? Now in the next couple of years if he keeps things going as he has now and Kentucky continues as it is now, I can see him leaving for Kentucky.

It amazes me how some Bama fans think. I guarantee you just because you pay your football coach more than any other coach in the nation, your basketball coach will not be the highest paid coach in the nation and thats what it would take to get Kennedy. Most Bama fans could care less about basketball and are only counting the days to football.

Now the Ole Miss fans are big basketball fans. Load up the wagon boys, we's gettin' on!

Bama boy is right, whether you look the last 20,30 or 40 years, UA is right behind Kentucky in wins, NCAA appearances and so on.

$10 million practice facility may be in limbo due to Scrugg's current situation.

If anyone ever doubted the overwhelming arrogance of the Bama fanbase, reading this should show them the light.

I wouldn't call it arrogance, looks pretty factual from where I'm sitting.

I'm growing tired of people getting their panties in a wad over this $#!+. I'm from the school of state your opinion, then back it up with facts. Which I have done, but since apparently there are several short bus riders confused I'll do it again.

LOOK AT THE FACTS--Any way you cut it, Alabama trails only Kentucky in every statistical category relevant to success the past 25 years or however many years you want to go back. Your point about 20 win seasons over the past 11 years is irrelevant considering we're discussing tradition and history of programs relevant to overall success. We have more wins--again, a winning record over EVERY program in the conference except Kentucky. More conference tournament titles than EVERY program except Kentucky. More tournament apperances than EVERY program except Kentucky. More Sweet 16 appearances than EVERY program except Kentucky. Now, I don't know how I can make my point any clearer. It has nothing to do with me being arrogrant, or the "typical" attitude of an Alabama fan. It has everything to do with FACTS.

I also never said Kennedy would be interested, I just asked a simple question about how much he was compensated at Ole Miss.

Regardless of what you think about me, Alabama fans in general, or our basketball program, I've done every thing possible to show you why I said what I did about the program. I could care less if you believe me, like Alabama, or whatever. But, the fact remains, I'm the only person on this whole thread who has actually supported his argument with actual statistics. Until you do that, you have no leg to stand on.

Tuscalooser,
You are completely missing the point. It's not that we don't believe you - it's that we don't give a chit! This post quickly went from asking about AK's salary to "WE'RE BAMA & WE'RE THE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE -JUST LOOK AT THE STATS FROM THE OLD DAYS! Bottom line is no one cares dude!
I don't think anyone on is arguing the fact that UAT has the second most conference wins in History. What's being said is WHO GIVES A CRAP about the history of alabammer bb? Answer: Only you & the rest of the Mullet Nation! Your stats are just not relevant to modern day performance - they're just NOT. The problem is that it's all you have to fall back on. Get over it & move on. Join us in the 21 Century. Bammer is mediocre @ best as of late. This can easily be backed up by stats if I chose to waste my time to research such trivial nonsense.
Let’s kill some DUCKS!
Bama SUCKS!
