any of you ever played golf at Farmlinks? I just accepted an internship position there for the summer and wondered if any of you lived near there or played there often

It is a really nice course from what I have heard. I have been told its going private in the near future. Other than that, I enjoy the Coosa River come summer

Yea its a beautiful place, and the fact that its a research course makes it that much cooler

I dont know to much about the course, i have oonly driven past it. My brothers have played and seen plenty of turkeys and deer. Now that you've said its a research course makes me wonder if the people that have high fence own it. Have you been up there yet?

Not yet I'm going down for my offical visit in early march, it is owned by the Purcell Family. You can google farmlinks golf and learn about all there company's, they own a fertilizer company this course as well as manage a huge farm there own the property

Thats what I thought, and the land is all high fenced, not for game, just to keep people off.

Just kidding. I've just been wanting to use the "Stay at Home" line myself. :D

:lol: :lol: too late I have already accepted it, The golf market in bama is on the rise and thats where I am kind of looking on going when I finish up so I am planning on doing my interns in the state of Alabama. You bama boys need all the help you can get from us Mississippi boys when it comes to grass :wink:

like driveby said- they hate oos'ters and they make the el-camino grew look like "BEARDED CLAM"'es... ever seen a window after a driving iron went thru it.... by the way- they putt like they drive....

Duckiller,
Are you a turf student? I am a Superintendent in Athens Alabama, I have been to Farmlinks a couple of times. It should be a great learning experience for you. Just remember to come back down to earth after your internship, that place is a dreamworld. Try and do one of your internships at a mid-level course (5-700,00 budget) it will give you a better idea what to expect upon graduation. Shawn Hollis

Yes I am a turf student, I moved from MSU to LAke City this year, and yes I ahve been at the under dog so to speak, I have worked on 2 diff. courses since I was 16, and was basicly the crew leader at the last one since they didn't have an asst. both of them were SMALLLLLLL country clubs so this is a very biggggggg step for me and I consider it a great learning experience. Thanks for your advice.


What course in Athens, my uncle is a sales rep for Harrels in ALabama, his name is Phillip Hindman just wondering if you might know him. I know he covers alot of the state

I know Phillip well. He is not my rep now but I have known him for years. I am at Canebrake Golf Club.
