What do you feel is a good price for joining a duck club?

What I'm looking for here is what do you guys and gals feel is a fair price for a club that has lets say around 1000 acers land attached.

When you think of high dollar club what dollar figure are you thinking?

We all make differnet amounts of money and it would be interesting to see what some of you feel is high dollar. For me anything over a 1000.00 a year per person is high dollar.

Think about it for a minute and post what you feel is high dollar based on what you are willing to pay to join a really good club.

I'm not in a duck lease, so my opinon probably doesn't count. I've heard of some 5K/person leases. I always considered that to be high dollar.

I don't think this question is entirely fair though, because there are plenty of leases that may cost X amount of dollars, but they are not going to be of the same quality per dollar cost. In other words, your lease for $1000 may be a heck of a lot better than my lease for $1000. I would be willing to pay a lot more for a high quality lease, than I would want to pay less just to have a lease. (if that makes any sence) For me, it really depends on the deal. But I'm not really looking for one, either.

Sure it's fair just don't make more out of it than it is.
If you were going to join a club and it is a good club (as you know no one can control the bird) but it has had good success in the past. What would be the number that you would say is high dollar. 500.00, 1000.00, 2000.00
All I'm looking for here is the differences that people value money when it comes to spending it on a duck lease. What do you consider high for any club?

I would say that anything over $1500 per head is high for me personally. That may seem high but keep in mind that I don't golf or do much in the off season so I don't have the expenses associated with that. I have seen great leases for $500 and some crappy ones for $2500 per gun.

Well, if I could set up the deal myself, I could probably come up with $3500 per year to get to hunt in Fightin' Bayou, or maybe a green timber club in AR. Anything above that, I would consider high dollar for not getting any ownership.

duckmen, i'm not in one myself but i have a really good friend who is a heavy machinery salesman over in arkansas. in fact, the whole state is his territory...anyway, the point of my post is that his club is about 1000acres w/ a house, they had 15 members, and each paid $2500 and a minium of of 3 dozen dekes which had to be given to the club...it had 7 pits and the house came w/ the...each member was in a group of three and the pits rotated daily on a schedule so it was a luck of the draw if you got a hot pit or not...the only way you could switch was if someone didn't show up or a pit was gonna be empty...this was right next to buck gardner's place above some town west of helena (can't remember the name off hand, i'll have to get my log book out) but let me tell ya, it's a prime location...to me, that's still steep, but at the same time it was well run w/ the only problem i could see was the the same few got stuck w/ all the work and the others just sorta showed up...i make it over to hunt w/ him bout 1-2 times a year just to break the routine a bit (like to hunt w/ myself plus one at most usually) and catch up w/ an ole friend...to make your short question a long answer, i would say that the amount was steep but prolly worth it given the situation...hope that helps...gator

Wildfowler-If you could hunt Fighting Bayou for $3500,I'd come up with the money,but you can't,and this brings me to my opinion.

There is enough good public hunting available,that I'm not willing to take the chance on a duck lease.Unless you can afford one of the really special places-Fighting Bayou or Dixie Farms for example (and even they are no absolute guarentee),there are too many variables-too hot or too cold,too dry or too wet,dry nesting season,ect.

I know some guys who paid $3300 appiece two years ago,and they didn't even kill a mallard until January.Didn't kill but about 10 total ducks the whole year.Year before there were ducks everywhere on their lease.It's just too iffy.

That's pretty much the same thing that I am trying to say too 450. I'm just too skeptical of leases to want to risk the money.

Besides, with all the complaining about poor duck hunting that's been going on for the past 4 years now, I never even see anyone else hunting on public lands.

I have been thinking about joining a club over in Lodges Corner, AR, located between DeWitt and Stuttgart. It is 840 acres and 30 members at $2000 a piece for duck, deer and fishing with a camp house included. Several of my co-workers here in Vicksburg all think I am rediculously stupid for even considering joining a club for that much money.

Too answer your question Duckmen, I believe anything over $1000 would be high dollar. Although I do know of a few areas I would pay that and over if I could, my wife may kill me though.

That is the problem I am running into right now...the wife thinks $2000 is too much to spend and keeps hiding the check book from me. Being in Vicksburg only 3 years I do not know anyone here other than co-workers and do not know where all to hunt. All of my co-workers have been in deer camps since birth and none of them duck hunt. So, I am destined to look abroad for places to hunt.

Some guy down the road from me duck hunts, or so I think he does, because there are several camo aluminum boats on the side of his house. His garage is closed off with blue plastic tarp and paints and fixes up boats for other duck hunters. I have never spoke with him as I would feel strange walking up to him and asking him were all to duck hunt.

Ours is $1,000 for 500 acres, 10 members. I can't see paying over 1,000 depending on the acres and members.

I'd say $3k and up is high dollar.

I got out of my lease bc it went up to $2500.00.
It was a great spot with great hunting, but the youngsters are getting older and it was hard to justify it.

If you can get into a spot for $1k with pretty good hunting, jump on it and let me know about it .

The problem with leasing in my opinion is everyone gets too many people bc they want to keep the costs down. There is always 1 or 2 good holes that everyone wants to go to. It gets to be a pain in the booty.

I'm back on public and having a good time with it.

I'll get back into a lease again when I'm a little more financially stable.
