MSDucker getting divorced, needs small home to rent
MSDucker getting divorced, needs small home to rent
After 10 years of helping my wife raise her two girls, and postponing my own career to help her get hers started, my wife has decided she no longer needs me around.
The good news is that my 7 year old son wants to live with me. The bad news is I must find a home to rent near Olive Branch so he can stay in school here, until at least this summer.
I am looking for a small two bedroom house, preferably something in the rural areas within daily driving distance of Olive Branch. I have been working nights at FedEx to insure "our children" have insurance and we would not have to put them in daycare. I even sold my Jeep and boat when times were tough, and have hunted and fished very little the past 4 years. My son is now old enough to go with me now, and I intend to everything I can not to disappoint him.
Something "rustic" would be just the ticket, even a "fixer-upper would be fine. I am quite handy and have an assortment of power tools. I am now seeking full-time employment as my job at FedEx only pays me about $1100 monthly.
I am a non-drinker/smoker and that is where my wife and I had problems. She refuses to change, even for the children's sake. I must find something to ensure at least my son doesn't have to live like that.
I do have a 11 year old lab that is completly house-broken, even won a duck dog competition back in 1998. Finding a house that allows pets has been a real challenge.
If anyone knows something within Desoto, Marshall or Tate county, please PM.
Thanks

Capt....I hope that you have a damn good attorney already....this state, really don't care what anyone wants, they will do as they please.....I have an 11yr old daughter that has wanted to live with me for the last four years and they won't allow it....I would have to prove without a doubt that the mother is unfit and believe me hoss, "unfit" is a very big word....Been divorced now for going on 6 years and have been in court for the last 4....If it was up to my Wife, we would move off the face of the earth, because the ex finds something every single week to make our life hell in someway or not....even though I wouldn't give up my current and last Wife for nothing on this earth, including my two Sons....All the pain and neverending agony of divorce is worth seeking serious marriage counseling and trying everything known to man to save your marriage if possible.....all bs aside, My ex and I recovered and moved on, the ones that suffered and still suffer daily are our children....If you need someone to talk to, pm me and I will call you....
Just some advice....try, try, try....

Bankermane.....I would rather move on and just be rid of her. I'm old school and just could not stoop to that level. We moved here 9 years ago to be closer to her parents, so I have no ties here.
Magic Mallard thanks for the advise, but its beyond repair. I suggested counseling and my insurance would cover a good portion of the cost, but she refuses. Fortunately I have been keeping a journal of her "exploits" for the last three years, as well as taped conversations and even some revealing video of her during a good drunk where she attacked me. Some of her friends have told me they would testify against her for the sake of her children. When confronted with this she has said (on tape) that she would agree to let me have custody of our son. How long is he going to want to be around her and two sisters anyway?

shot ya a pm. Been there, done that with the Fedex thing. Those folks don't wanny pay CHIT, yet expect you to be at their beck and call.
You ever looked into UPS??? They pay a HELL of a lot more $$$ for the same work. And I mean A HELL OF A LOT MORE $$$$. Are you on the 20 year to top out pay raise rate like most folks are at Fedex?? I was a courier for the better part of 10 years with mid to upper 6's on performance review (out of 7) thus obtaining the maximum allowable raises every single time and was only at 53% scale!!! Do you know that UPS couriers top out more than $10 per hour more than Fedex Couriers do? Did you know that the entry level pay for couriers at UPS is $2 more per hour than Fedex couriers TOP OUT pay??? SAD SAD SAD world. Did you know UPS offers better benifits overall??? The old argument about "but they have to pay union dues" etc...it's MINIMAL...something like 1% of their salary. Aprox $10 per week.
Sorry to rant.

Sorry to rant.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

If you have done nothing to her (no affairs, not beat on her, not a boozer/druggie, no mental abuse, or hurt one of the kids or her) she can't force you out. Only a judge cand do that and if you haven't done anything judge won't make you move. With all that said... stay until you can get a place to stay. If she won't go for that make her sign a statement that there is no abuse on her or the kids. And include the fact that you did not abandon her and kids. Then she can't say you abandon her and kids and it's all your fault because you left her. Fight fair but not dirty, I can promise you she will fight dirty. Been there brother.......... prayers sent.

Get it in writing and have her sign it. Trust me from expirience. And the sooner the better. After she gets to talking to a lawyer, you will never get this even if the kid wants to go with you. A written signed note will stand up in court though. Good luck man. It's tough at first but it gets better with time. For me it was a blessing. I just wish I had a written letter.

i've been through this... my first wife was running around on me with a guy from her work.. i had her dead to right; but i just took the attitude that i just wanted to get this over with and move on..
and so be it. if thats what you want to do.. but now as i look back i wish i hadn't been so easy about things..
it might take a while with the slow booty court system.. but as mentioned earlier; if you've done nothing wrong then get in there and fight for whats yours and fight for whats right..
by backing down and letting her get her way your not doing yourself or your soon to be ex any favors..... maybe a cold dose of reality is just the swift kick in the booty she needs..

As I said, I don't drink or smoke, sure as hell don't do drugs. She is the one that did all that, and that is the reason she wants out. I'm too "square" for her I guess. I always thought she would grow out of it for her children.
Thanks for the prayers.
