do black birds mess up ducks
I have a place that is over run with blackbirds . I have never seen it this bad on the place as far as ducks go they seem to stay in the fields at night that is more open but the fields that have coffee beans the birds over run it late in the afternoons to roost and stay in the coffee beans all night and make just way to much racket. I have thought about getting a propane cannon and putting up in the late afternoon and let it run for a few hours to maybe get them away. Just looking for thoughts

it's a racial thing.. kinda like if you go to a eat'n joint and it's full of negro.

i've noticed the same thing applies if you have a bunch of small ducks too. or atleast thats how it works where i hunt.. the holes that are covered up with woodies, ring necks etc, the big birds won't come in them. now,.. if it's just a few it don't bother them..

I believe firmly that big flocks of blackbirds=no ducks. I have seen it so many times. You will be shooting steady ducks and then 1000 black birds come in and land. The ducks won't come within a hundred yards after that. Plus the buggers will wipe out your milo or millet in a hurry. I carry #7 steel to sling at them if the decide to land too close.

I don't tollerate them landing all in the rice either when I am hunting. I think it spooks the ducks because of all the noise and movement. It makes the ducks uneasy it think, don't know though. I have notice the same to make the story short.
