Ok everybody. We've gotten a lot of calls about this particular freaky feathered friend. Most have suggested that it is a molting tamie. Unfortunately, according to my collegue, the molting has not progressed. Therefore, this leads us to believe that is NOT, in fact, molting. Soooooo, does anyone have any OTHER ideas as to just what the heck this bird is (aside from confused). Please help.

One of my "associates" has one on the wall in his office. It looks just like that duck but without the afro on top of his head. He calls it an "eclipse" mallard". Said it was was something to do with one of the mouting phases.

Duck is native to the delta area but has grown in large porportions in the metro.

Eclipse is just another way of saying the duck isn't in full plumage. Hope he didn't shoot a tamie and think it's something rarer than it really is.
