Hope you can help me...
First let me introduce myself...I am an engineering student at Mississippi State and married to a good woman that has given me 2 beautiful kids. My son Austin is five and my daughter Chyenne is 2. They are my greatest hunting partners. Well, to get to the point...I am new to Starkville and have been driving to hunt family owned land in Hinds and Warren County (cant beat the deer hunting there). It is way to expensive to do this next year so I am going to be looking for a family friendly camp to join within a decent driving distance. If I cant I was going to look into hunting on some public land, although if thats the case I probably wont take my kids with me. My question is how is the deer hunting on places like John W. Starr, Black Prarie (draw hunt I think), and Noxubee. Also, duck hunting, maybe, on Noxubee and Trim Cane. I have never been to these places and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Nice to meet all of you and thanks for your help.

I must apologise if I came off as trying to get yalls honey holes...I wasnt. I was just trying to see if anyone one has hunted on public land around here and could tell me if it was worth it. I have only hunted on Pearl River WMA because someone told me they have great deer hunting. I saw deer, but they were running across the road into the area were it is illegal to hunt. Im not complaining though cause I was able to shoot a couple hogs. The place was crawling with them. I was also able to kill 2 coyotes, something I will do whenever those little turkey eating rascals show their faces. Sorry I broke forum ettiquette in here. Hope you can forgive a newbie.

Man I hunt in Macon on family land. That being said, the hunting in Noxubee isn't real bad, but I will tell you to be very careful. It is a lot of people hunting there that shouldn't be hunting at all. There are plenty of member and pocket friendly clubs available.

bulldog send me and email to jbw81@msstate.edu if you can scan the maps of both Star and Noxubee I will do you a big favor. I have hunting both places. This is my last year here so I wont be needing my holes anymore. But I will repeat whats been said before Refuge is so over populated with hunters but there is a reason because there are some sure enough monsters out there.
