Bringing Your Dog to Work

Postby justinmur » Fri Dec 14, 2007 9:18 am

I have a 15 month old BLM that has been coming to the golf course everyday since he was eight weeks old. This being my first Lab to own and train figured this would be very helpful for me, which I think it has. I work with him everyday, Basic OB and Retriving at least once a day. How often should I work him with his collar? Is everyday too much?

My cousin is a welder, and he decides on whether or not to take a welding job on the clients opinion of other peoples dogs. If they don't want his dog around, then they have to hire another welder.

If your in training/teaching mode I have the collar on my dog. I may not use it but its there. Just letting the dog get some air and excercise then no its not on.

funny you should say you work at a golf course and bring your dog with you to work...do you work pro shop or maintence?? big difference on enviroment...not saying it matters but if i worked lawn gear i wouldn't bc of the possibility of dog getting injuried, and it nots great for their hearing.
However, when it is not duck season, I golf almost every day. I can actually say that I golf more than hunt...to bad duck hunting doesn't have handicaps...haha...but i bring my dogs with me from time to time on my home course in my own cart to work on ob. stuff...my oldest dog likes to find my lost balls, or other ones like it...
i love taking my dog to work...but to many nails on job sites these days, thank the careless mexicans...

I am the golf course superintendent here. I was worried about him getting hurt but he has learned his lesson a time or two...getting bumped by my cart, Jumping off a moving cart. he has learned. My main question was sometimes when we are out on the course he has a tendancy to go play with the other dogs and doesn't want to come back to me unless I have his collar on and I can nick him to get him back. or without it if he has been playing with the dogs for awhile he will come when he is called without his collar.

Hey pup can you hand me that 2.0 prolene suture or better yet make it Dexon? I need to close up this abdominal wall. Please be mindful of the sterile field though...oh and please quit lifting your hind leg in here. Thanks.

i dont bring my dog every day, but most of the time, its just me and the owner of the company in the office, and he always brings his lab, they sure help pass the time!
