Age these bucks

We did kill a buck on our place that was estimated to be between 13 and 15 yrs old. He was aged by a professional biologist.
The biologist said after 8yrs old its pretty much a guessing game on age. The oldest he had ever seen. Deer didn't have any teeth.. must have survived off of freshwater shrimp in the lake water.

The deer was a typical 8pt.. very heavy horns. 22 inch inside spread and he weighed 150lbs. He was killed in the last muzzleloading season end of january. I would say it was definitely time to harvest that one.

I'd say 4 1/2 and 2 1/2. 8)

WTF?


How do you tell if a deer is 15yrs old? Was it tagged or marked? Was he an asian deer that like the freshwater shrimps?

All this being said I have heard numerous reports of 12+yo deer I just wonder how you tell?

I would shoot the first deer just because he is agging you on. I mean have you ever seen a deer walk by a camera and stick his dang tongue out. He obviously wants to be shot. I would have to take him out just for that reason. :D

I didn't even notice that... All the more reason to put an arrow or bullet through him.

i say the first one is 4 or so not older than 5

the second one is 2 1/2 no doubt

I told you the biologist "estimated" his age. After 6yrs its all a guessing game anyway.

I still don't think the first deer is any older than 2 yrs old...
like i said, has anybody on here ever seen a 6 plus yr old 6pt in MS???
seriously?? with a profesional opinion of age??
