Cuts on dogs

Postby pstone » Thu Dec 13, 2007 12:54 pm

Took Buck hunting this morning, and in the process of pickin up a few ducks he managed to get 3-4 small cuts on his legs, and one on his side. Is there anything that I need to do to make sure they don't get infected, or will they be OK?

Just wondering, and figured you guys would know.

Thanks

My lab got a small gash behind his front leg, and my vet said to just rinse it out with peroxide and rub in some neosporene with a Q-tip. Your dog should be fine, but it probably wouldn't hurt to clean out the cuts.

Ditto Goosbruce, EMT Gel is the best stuff in the world for cuts.

Wheredo you get the EMT gel? Walmart? Drugstore?

Thanks for the sugestions. None of the cuts are very big, or deep....Guess I'm a little over protective...

I get mine from those handlers bags they give out at the grand. Shoot man, I got half a closet full of them, most still with stuff in them. But all the emt gel got stole out those bags a long time ago & used.

I think the big chain pet stores have it, petco used to carry it Im 95% postive. Im not sure I ever bought any, cause it always comes in those bags, but its by far and away everything ever claimed about it.

I'll see about locating some for future use. i just brought him in to inspect him, and it is nothing more than sratches. It just bled this morning and made it look a lot worse than it is.

Thanks though, a lot of useful info!

liquid band-aid

Has anyone else used the liquid band-aid? I tried it once to keep mine from scratching at a cut and it worked great.
