Hamilton Ms Deer?

Postby Hayes » Wed Dec 05, 2007 9:44 pm

Dad said a man from church told him someone killed a deer around hamilton that will score 180+ . Said the fella took it to larry clark to enter teh big buck scoring contest and the scorer said you need to take this thing else where to someone with more experience. Dont know how much truth there is too this. Seems as if there are alot of big deer being killed in MS this year

I have not seen the deer, but I live in hamilton and have heard about it. Supposedly it was killed in a peanut field. I heard it was an 18 point, that's about all I know.

there are no deer in monroe county! i saw one once, but that was years ago. you must be mistaken. that deer was probably killed in the delta. all we have here are squirrels and skunks. that's it. no deer. just squirrels, skunks, and armadillos, but definitely not a single deer!

Yup. I'm thinking of moving out of Monroe county for that very reason.

i'm hoping both of yall are joking. south of aberdeen and over there behind the outback where this deer was killed is some of the best hunting in monroe county and except the big black and parts of the delta I would rather hunt here than any where else

Yeah, at least I was joking. I thought the sarcasm in those posts was pretty evident.

you be suprised how some people think, we have a few members in our club that believe that very thing. we killed a doe this year that had hardly any teeth left and they couldn't believe a doe would be that old down there. I feel lucky we have been able to get some members that see eye to eye with us management hunters. The future is bright for Darracott if we can keep popin the does

I hunt off of IMC Rd some and that place was full of does. A stray dog ran through one pine thicket there, one day, and about 20 - 30 does came running out. That little mutt though was chasing one of the biggest bucks I've ever seen down there. That buck ran right through those does but that little dog never lost the trail... I was quite impressed, even though I didn't get a shot at the buck.

Last year, I think it was last year, I saw one buck with a 20" spread cross the road in broad daylight chasing a doe. I heard he was laid to rest a few days later.

if ya'll will read rbl763's and bigbuckslayer's posts, you'd understand why i posted that  we've already had 700+ acres taken in the last 4 years by a group of doc's and lawyers that only hunt opening day, thanksgiving, and christmas. now i'm not knocking doc's and lawyers, but they outbid the next highest bidder by 7 dollars on 16th section land. it'll be a sad day when we're all on standby at a wma hoping to hunt. so, as i said previously, there are absolutely, positively, and i can say this without a shadow of a doubt, no deer in monroe county.

Been in a club in east Monroe county for 4 years now and have not seen a thing. Sad situation there. I'd suggest going somewhere else if you want to kill a big one.
