Highway 50 clay/lowndes county

Postby wrdabney » Sun Dec 09, 2007 11:46 pm

Anybody had any luck around this area so far. I've mainly been hunting Tibbee creek and doing pretty good but I want to check out the highway 50 area.

just to give you a word of advice...... if you say stuff like that on here..... next time your at the boat ramp..... there will be more than just you trying to push off..... if your killin ducks right now...... as bad as it is so far this season.... might want to keep that to yourself and not a public forum!

The pasture doesn't get much greener than that.

when i say pretty good i'm comparing that to last year on tibbee when a good day for us was 2 ducks. i dont mean we're killing limits but we've been killing ducks. Also, anybody is welcome to go hunt tibbee anytime they want and im not opposed to it. so if you want to get out there earlier than i do and you beat me to a spot then more power to you, i've got others. I'm also not opposed to helping other hunters out. For one thing im leaving to go back to TN. and hunt all Christmas break so for whoever is in that area THERE ARE SOME DUCKS ON TIBBEE if you can find the right spots.

I think someone is throwing curveballs. I've been hunting every morning for the most part for the last week or so and have been killing them on the Coldwater river below the dam. This was until they cut the water off out of the lake and now I doubt I can get back to my spot. This spot is water level driven, that is to say if the water isn't at the right level it doesn't look good and you won't kill ducks there. It's a nice area since there are lots of fields around. You can generally scrap out a limit or two with several mallards mixed in the bag.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

we killed 12,7,7,5 with 3 people the last 4 days we've been so yeah there are some ducks there. We saw a few new flights coming in when we hunted sunday morning. Suprising for how the weather has been.

Hwy 50 slew is covered in hydra. They didn't have the funding to spray this year. The guys that are killing them are going in by pero and camping over night. Not worth it for that slew.

Also be sure to have your corp land permits. Got checked there opening weekend without them. Only got a warning, but they are covering that area heavy.
If the birds are flying great, but if not, enjoy the time; at least you're not at work.

got me a warning citation as well for "failure to date permit"
"If I am going to continue to shoot your limit of ducks for you, as well as my own, then i will be forced to request some monetary compensation for shells, wear-and-tear on my dog, boat and gun, as well as lunch to keep me in good shooting form."

Shot a couple skeeters the other day, but not much else. Been running tibbee and north of barton ferry. Woodies and gadwalls with the occasional mallard.
